Nederland Police Reports - 25-07
The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office had 230 calls for service in Nederland for the month of July. The calls for service included 1 criminal mischief, 14 animal complaints, 6 alarms, 5 suspicious activity, 4 fire/medical assists, 3 trespassing complaints, 8 welfare checks, 4 disturbances, 3 domestic violence, 2 harassments, 1 noise complaint, 1 theft, 1 burglary, 2 missing persons, 1 auto theft, 1 sex assault, and 1 weapon violation.
Included in the calls for service, deputies conducted approximately 120 traffic stops, responded to 10 assists, 3 DUI, 2 hit and runs, and 3 property damage/injury accidents. Not including the accidents, deputies issued approximately 55 citations and 15 written warnings.
Calls of Note:
Disturbance / Illegal dumping
An unknown male was illegally dumping trash and "almost" hit an employee with his vehicle. The 51 year old male was identified from the trash. He admitted to dumping the trash, there was no intent, or a crime reference the disturbance portion. The male was issued a summons for illegal dumping.
Vehicle Trespass / Theft >$2000.
An unknown suspect entered a victim’s vehicle and removed her purse, and a black Dell backpack containing her $2400 Dell laptop and other stuff owned by her work. She found her purse in the road, missing her wallet containing her CO DL and credit cards, and the hidden key had been removed from her key fob. More follow up as deputies may have a possible suspect.
Criminal Mischief >$300
A 17 year old male had his truck tire punctured while he was in the store. With additional follow-up, a suspect was identified. The deputy is working on charges or restorative justice.
Harassment
A 57 year old female was harassed by a 44 year old female who ran at her and shoved her arm. The victim did not want to press charges but wanted documentation.
Auto Theft/ID Theft
Two 12-year-olds and an 11-year-old were arrested for stealing a vehicle. They went joy riding and used the victim’s credit cards.
Sexual Assault
A mandatory reporter called dispatch to report a 26 year old female was sexually assaulted by a 50 year old male. Detectives will be assigned to the case.
Code Violation
Homeowners have ongoing issues with their neighbors. They did not want law enforcement to make contact yet. They wanted to gather information before moving forward with possible charges.
Parking Complaint
An F150 with expired tags was parked overnight at Barker, issued a ticket.
Unattended death
A juvenile male found a body floating in Barker Reservoir while fishing. The decedent was identified and no signs of foul play.
Extra Patrol
Deputies made themselves visible at the farmers market due to a large attendance.
Dog at Large
Handled a disturbance between neighbors about a dog. The dog was supposed to be on a 10-day quarantine after biting a child but is still running around bothering neighbors. Handled this call with Animal Protection Services and they were able to give the individual a ticket and impound the dog for the rest of the 10-day quarantine.
Felony menacing / Tampering / DV
A male reported a cold domestic incident that occurred with his wife about 2 months ago. A weapon was brandished and there were accusations of an affair. Days later he was issued divorce papers, and his computer was hacked, and passwords were changed. More follow up with Detectives.
Illegal Camping
Contacted a 38 year old male from Arkansas camping out under the pavilion at Chipeta Park. He said he was just passing through and would leave town.
Disturbance.
A disturbance between a business owner and party who refused to leave the establishment. When deputies arrived and told her to leave, she complied and was last seen waiting for the bus.
Assault
A male was assaulted by his daughter. She also stole $3,400. A warrant was obtained, and she was arrested and taken to jail.
Injury Crash
A 49 year old male driver was rear ended and another parked vehicle was T-boned by a 75 year old male driver at SB Hwy 119 and Lakeview Drive. The 49 year old male was knocked unconscious and transported to the hospital. The 75 year old male driver was cited for careless driving.
Property Damage
No injured parties. The at fault driver was issued a careless driving ticket.
Welfare Check
A 47 year old female got into a verbal argument with her 74 year old mother. The 47 year old was having mental health issues and needed help. She was receptive to talking to deputies for a lengthy period of time and follow-up with a co-responder will be needed.
Found property
A male turned in found ID’s that were dropped in the Barker parking lot. The owner was contacted and ID’s were placed in evidence for safekeeping and the owner will pick up later.
Domestic Disturbance
A 33 year old female and 30 year old female were reported by neighbors to be screaming, yelling, and slamming doors. Investigated and nothing criminal. Referred to co-responders for assistance.
VIN Check
A 42 year old male bought a jeep off a guy from Illinois and needed the VIN Verification.
Parking Issue
A couple of cars parked on the road. They were in violation of the ordinance, and each issued a parking ticket.
Civil Service
Deputies are having difficulty serving civil paperwork to a female who has severe mental health issues. Deputies, co-responder, and her mother will continue to work together to get her served.
Animal complaint
A 65 year old female was baiting and capturing animals, violating Ned ordinance. She was given a written warning.
Restraining Order Violation
A male reported the restrained party flipped him off when he drove by on his way to work last week. They have conflicting stories, more follow up to be completed.
Criminal Mischief
A victim reported that an unknown person tried to break into his vehicle while parked in his driveway. There were some small pry marks on the driver’s side door next to the lock. No suspect leads.
