Nederland Police Reports - 25-06
The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office had 226 calls for service in Nederland for the month of June. The calls for service included 1 criminal mischief, 10 animal complaints, 2 alarms, 5 suspicious activity, 6 fire/medical assists, 6 trespassing complaints, 6 welfare checks, 3 disturbances, 1 domestic violence, 2 harassments, 1 noise complaint, 2 drug violations, and 3 thefts.
Included in the calls for service, deputies conducted approximately 148 traffic stops, responded to 14 assists, 3 DUI, 1 hit and run, and 2 property damage/injury accidents. Not including the accidents, deputies issued approximately 110 citations and 8 written warnings.
Calls of Note:
Warrant Arrest
A 35 year old male was contacted for trespassing and found to have an outstanding warrant. He was arrested and warned not to return to the property.
Code Enforcement Assist
Worked with the town and property owner of where the famous "box" was located that attracted several unhoused individuals. They were able to clean out the box, dismantle it and throw it away on Nederland Town cleanup day!
DUS / No Insurance / Unregistered Vehicle
Stopped a male driver for speeding. Claimed he was heading to probation and DMV, but it was found out those appointments were check-in via phone and not in person. Vehicle impounded. Citation issued.
Disorderly Conduct
Two parties involved engaged in an argument reference a dog incident at the park. One involved male party will be charged with the above charge.
Domestic Dispute
A reporting party heard a male and female yelling for an hour. A 53 year old female and 59 year old male had a verbal argument and nothing further. No evidence of a crime.
Dog Bite
A 4 year old girl was bitten on the ear by a dog in the park. Owners of the dog were contacted, very cooperative and were issued a summons.
Menacing / Harassment / Trespass
A transient male was sleeping in the vestibule overnight and when the victims were going out to their car he got in their faces. They were shoved and menaced in the lobby. Later in the day the male trespassed on property. He was contacted and cited.
Trespass Warning
A transient male was called in by a business manager for trespassing. He was told to move along, he may not return as he has court in Brighton.
Bicycle Theft / Trespass
Someone stole a black and silver Giant TCX-SLR2 Bicycle from a residence. No serial number or leads.
Criminal Mischief
A male reported an unknown party burned the inside roof liner of his Expedition.
Protection Order Violation
A 49 year old male was arrested for violating a protection order.
Warrant Arrest / Possession of Cocaine
A 26 year old female was chased by an unknown male with a knife. While investigating, deputies came upon another male who had a warrant for his arrest. When he was searched, they found 2grams of cocaine. He was jailed. The original unknown male was not located and the victim became uncooperative with the investigation.
Unattended Death
A 74 year old male was visiting his son for a few weeks and when he went to use the restroom, he had a cardiac episode.
Welfare Check
A friend responded to the substation to request for us to keep an eye out for his friend who has memory issues and had not been seen for a few hours. He was eventually found in Ward and returned home. APS referral completed.
Property Damage Accident
A juvenile female backed into another vehicle, fearful she would get in trouble for driving with a permit, without an adult, she left the scene. The other vehicle followed, and they ultimately stopped. The juvenile female’s mother responded, and the driver was issued a summons.
Informational
A 56 year old male has been going around town asking/demanding for people to sign his petition. Nothing criminal at this point but the male has been identified and it was documented in case his behavior escalates.
Welfare/ reckless endangerment
A 33 year old male called stating his 34 year old ex-girlfriend was kidnapped and being chased by another ex boyfriend. The female was eventually found shivering and intoxicated near Nederland. She denied anything happened and insisted she was just stranded.
Trespass / Theft
An elderly male stated an unknown suspect entered his property on 2 different occasions and stole 2 large patio umbrellas and the base from his backyard, totaling about $270. This is the second time his property has been trespassed and property stolen. No suspect leads.
Disturbance
An employee worked 3 to 4 shifts but was disrespectful to the customers and other employees. He cussed out his boss, was fired, and told not to return. Documented in case he returns and needs to be trespassed.
Property Damage Accident
Two vehicles involved in an accident. Document for insurance purposes.
Speeding
A green Kawasaki ZX1000 was speeding 58 mph in posted 25 coming out of Ned. The 30 year old biker was stopped at the base of the canyon and cited.
Barking Dogs
The homeowners were out of town according to a neighbor and their daughter was supposed to be housesitting. Owners were given a written warning.
Assistance
A female got herself stuck in her bedroom. The door was so crooked it wedged itself against the frame. She was able to toss keys out the window for the deputy to get the door open.
