Black Hawk Police Report, May 2025
On 5/1/25, at approximately 12:13 a.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for displaying expired registration. Upon contact, the driver had updated registration tags and was told to put them on. The driver was issued a verbal warning.
On 5/1/25, at approximately 12:31 a.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for driving down the middle of Main Street, passing a car and two casino buses at a high rate of speed. Upon investigation, the vehicle had fictitious plates on the vehicle. The driver was issued a Gilpin County Summons for reckless driving and fictitious plates.
On 5/1/25, at 12:45 a.m., officers responded to the Monarch Hotel, located at 488 Main Street, on a report of a domestic disturbance potentially involving firearms. Two subjects were contacted in a hotel room, and it was determined that nothing criminal had occurred. A report was completed.
On 5/1/25, officers were dispatched to 401 Main Street, the Horseshoe Casino, to remove an unwanted party. The male was asked to leave. No further actions were taken.
On 5/1/25, at approximately 9:30 a.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on Highway 119 and Richman. The driver was given a warning. No further actions were taken.
On 5/1/25, an officer conducted a traffic stop in front of the Saratoga Casino. The driver was unfamiliar with the area and was about to drive on the wrong side of the road on Gregory Street. The driver was given a warning.
On 5/1/25, officers conducted a traffic stop on Highway 119 at mile marker 5.8, for a vehicle that drove straight when in a turn-only lane. The driver was issued a verbal warning.
On 5/1/25, at approximately 3:30 p.m., an officer responded to the Monarch Casino, 488 Main Street, in reference to a stolen cell phone. Upon arrival, the suspect had already left the scene, and was unable to be located or identified.
On 5/1/25, at approximately 8:44 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for running a stop sign. Upon investigation, the vehicle was a rental car, and the driver did not have valid proof of insurance. The driver was issued a municipal summons.
On 5/1/25, officers observed a vehicle with no headlights on travelling southbound Highway 119. Officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle. Upon arrival, there was a driver and a passenger in the vehicle. I told the driver that the headlights were off, and the driver then turned the head lights on. A verbal warning was issued.
On 5/2/25, at approximately 2:28 a.m., officers responded to the Wild Card Casino at 120 Main Street, on a report of a trespassed guest on property. The guest ran off the property as soon as casino staff called the police department. A suspect was identified and was later issued a municipal summons.
On 5/2/25, at approximately 5:19 a.m., officers responded to the construction traffic lights located at mile marker eight, Highway 119, on an unconscious party in a vehicle that was called out by Gilpin County Paramedics. Upon arrival, paramedics advised that the party woke up and stated he was sleeping while waiting for the light to turn green. Officers did not suspect any signs of impairment from the male driver, as he stated he just got off work in Winter Park and was heading home to Nederland.
On 5/2/25, at approximately 6:15 a.m., an officer responded to the Horseshoe Casino, 401 Main Street, in reference to a female party stating that she lost $400 when the money fell out of her bra. Surveillance was unable to track the female losing the money. No further action was taken.
On 5/2/25, an officer responded to the Horseshoe parking garage on the report of a possible vehicle break-in. Upon arrival, it was discovered that the vehicle's owner had broken his window to get into the vehicle and was found sleeping inside.
On 5/2/25, at approximately 5:36 p.m., a Black Hawk Police officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle with expired plates. Upon contact, the driver was unable to provide insurance and was given a citation.
On 5/2/25, at approximately 6:25 p.m., officers responded to the Lodge Casino on the report of a female party who was thrown out of the casino. The reporting party had complaints of shoulder pain. Upon arrival, officers checked on her and investigated whether any criminal actions had occurred. Upon investigations, no crime occurred, the party was checked by medics, and assisted in getting her a hotel room.
On 5/2/25, at approximately 7:29 p.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle changing lanes without turning signals and crossing solid white lines. The officer later released the driver with a verbal warning.
On 5/2/25, Black Hawk Police officers observed a vehicle running a red light at Highway 119 and Main Street. Officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle at mile marker 5.8. Upon contact, the driver had presented all of the documents requested. A verbal warning was issued.
On 5/2/25, at approximately 9:32 p.m., officers were notified of a lost wallet on a Ramblin' Casino bus coming up to Black Hawk from Arvada. Officers made contact with the reporting party at the Horseshoe Casino at 401 Main Street. After the investigation, it was unknown if the wallet was stolen. A report was taken.
On 5/2/25, officers observed a vehicle with no headlights travelling southbound Highway 119 passing Main Street. Officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle at mile marker 5.8. Upon contact, the driver had their Colorado's Driver's License presented. Officers asked the driver if the vehicle is their’s, and they said no but the driver was on the phone with the registered owner. The driver was able to get the registration and proof of insurance from the registered owner and presented them to the officers. A verbal warning was issued.
On 5/3/25, at approximately 10:20 p.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle with expired plates since 10/2024. Upon contact with the driver, they did not have a valid driver's license or insurance. A summons was issued to the driver.
On 5/3/25, at approximately 11:26 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for no headlamps. The driver was issued a verbal warning.
On 5/3/25, at approximately 1:03 a.m., officers were dispatched to the Ameristar Casino at 111 Richman Street, on a report of money theft. A suspect was identified and was given a municipal summons.
On 5/3/25, at approximately 4:46 a.m., officers were on routine patrol of the Dakota Lot at 245 Main Street, when they observed a female who appeared to be sleeping in the driver's seat of a vehicle. Officers checked on the female, and she stated she was just sleeping and was advised about the no-camping ordinance.
On 5/3/25, officers responded to the Lady Luck Casino open parking lot on a report of a disturbance. Upon arrival, officers did not observe any physical altercation, or injuries between the female party and the male party. Officers conducted an investigation and after the investigation was completed, there was no crime that was committed and that there was verbal argument between the female party and the male party.
On 5/3/25, an officer responded to the Ameristar Casino on the report of found drugs by casino staff. A suspect was identified and will be issued a summons for possession.
On 5/3/25, at approximately 1:14 p.m., officers observed a vehicle traveling northbound on Highway 119 and mile marker 5.8 with an expired license plate. The driver was issued a summons.
On 5/3/25, at approximately 1:54 p.m., officers were dispatched to the Saratoga Casino at 101 Main Street, for a trespass. The individual was issued a summons and escorted off of the property.
On 5/3/25, at approximately 3:16 p.m., officers observed a vehicle traveling northbound on Highway 119 that made a left turn from the wrong lane when turning onto Selak Street. The driver was issued a warning.
On 5/3/25, at approximately 9:02 p.m., officers responded to the area of mile marker 8 on Highway 119, near the construction lights, for an unknown injury motor vehicle accident that was called in by a passerby. Upon checking the area, officers found a two-car motor vehicle accident at mile marker 8.5 on Highway 119. Driver one was transported to the hospital by paramedics with visible injuries, and driver two was checked out and taken into custody on a warrant. A report was taken, and a DR-3447 was completed.
On 5/4/25, at approximately 9:50 p.m., a Black Hawk Police officer and a Gilpin County deputy responded to the Horseshoe Casino on the report of a disturbance. Upon arrival and investigation, it was determined to be a domestic violence incident. The suspect was identified and arrested.
On 5/4/25, at approximately 2:53 a.m., officers were dispatched to the Ameristar Casino at 111 Richman Street, on a report of an escalating disturbance between two males. Upon investigation, one male party had knocked a hat off of another male party. A male suspect was identified and issued a municipal summons for harassment.
On 5/4/25, a Black Hawk Police officer assisted another agency regarding a domestic disturbance that had occurred in a different city, but the involved parties were in Black Hawk earlier. The involved parties' activities were reviewed at the Lodge Casino, and recovered information was given to the Weld County Sheriff's Office.
On 5/4/25, an officer from the Black Hawk Police Department assisted a trooper from the Colorado State Patrol with translating in a hit-and-run call.
On 5/4/25, an officer conducted a traffic stop. The driver was released on a verbal warning for excessive speed.
On 5/4/25, officers responded to the Ameristar Casino at 111 Richman Street, regarding a stolen wallet. The case remains active for further investigation.
On 5/4/25, at 11:58 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop after observing an expired license plate on a vehicle at the intersection of Richman Street and Highway 119. A female driver was contacted and issued a penalty assessment.
On 5/5/25, officers observed a vehicle traveling on the 200 block of Main Street without front headlights. Officers conducted a traffic stop and gave the driver a verbal warning. The driver was released and officers cleared the scene.
On 5/5/25, at approximately 6:06 p.m., officers responded to 240 Main Street, the Lodge Casino, on a report of a found purse with pills in it. The owner of the purse was able to show her prescription for the pills.
On 5/5/25, at approximately 6:45 p.m., officers responded to the 100 block of Main Street for a report of a disturbance. Officers made contact with a male and female who were arguing and determined nothing physical had happened. They were released.
On 5/5/25, at 7:11 p.m., while out on patrol, an officer noticed a vehicle that had broken down on Main Street at the Minors Mesa intersection and was blocking traffic. The officer assisted in getting the vehicle relocated out of traffic and into a safe location to await a private tow.
On 5/5/25, at 8:40 p.m., officers responded to the Dakota Lot located at 130 Main Street, regarding a disturbance between two females. Upon further investigation, both females were determined to be intoxicated and were upset over losing a wallet at the Lodge Casino. Both females were released to a sober party, and a report was taken for the lost wallet.
On 5/6/25, Black Hawk officers observed a vehicle enter the intersection of Richman Street and Main Street after the light was red. Officers conducted a traffic stop and gave the driver a verbal warning.
On 5/6/25, at 1 a.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for failure to display license plates occurring on the 300 block of Main Street. It was determined the vehicle was currently registered, but not insured. The driver was issued a summons and a report was completed.
On 5/7/25, at approximately 10:02 p.m., officers responded to 240 Main Street, the Lodge Casino, on a report of a lost wallet. The Lodge surveillance reviewed the video footage and was not able to determine where the wallet was lost.
On 5/7/25, officers were dispatched to 240 Main Street for a party that fell and hit his head. Officers dispatched medics who transported the male party to the hospital to be evaluated.
On 5/7/25, a Black Hawk Police officer conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle that failed to stop at a red traffic signal at Main Street and Miners Road. The driver stopped but fled the scene on foot and could not be located.
On 5/7/25, at approximately 7:25 p.m., officers were dispatched to the Ameristar Casino at 111 Richman Street, for a welfare check. The individual was transported to the hospital. No further actions were taken.
On 5/7/25, at approximately 10:18 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for displaying expired registration. Upon contact, the driver was unable to provide proof of valid insurance. The driver was issued a municipal summons.
On 5/7/25, officers observed a vehicle travelling northbound Highway 119 with one taillight not working. Officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle in the Peak to Peak parking lot. Upon contact, the driver stated that the vehicle is her brother's. A verbal warning was issued.
On 5/7/25, officers responded to the Monarch Casino on a report of a disturbance. Upon arrival, officers conducted an investigation on the incident. Due to the facts and information officers received from the parties involved, there was no crime that was committed. A report was taken.
On 5/8/25, an officer responded to the Ameristar Casino on the report of an intoxicated party possibly attempting to drive. The party was advised not to drive.
On 5/8/25, at approximately 12 a.m., officers were dispatched to the Saratoga Casino at 101 Main Street, for a warrant pick up. Officers arrested the individual and he was transported to the Gilpin County Jail.
On 5/8/25, at 1:10 a.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for failure to display headlights and a license plate obstructed by a cover occurring at 6100 Highway 119. The driver was issued a verbal warning and a field interview report was completed.
On 5/8/25, at approximately 2:01 a.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle due to the vehicle making a u-turn where a marked sign prohibits such. Upon investigation, the driver was unable to provide insurance and did not have a valid driver's license. The driver was issued a Gilpin County Summons.
On 5/8/25, officers observed a vehicle travelling southbound Highway 119 with expired registration tags as of 10/24. Officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle at mile marker 5.8 on Highway 119. Upon contact, the driver had their license but no other documentation. Officers were flagged down by the driver that they found the documentation. A summons was issued.
On 5/8/25, at approximately 4:59 a.m., officers were on routine patrol of the Dakota Lot at 245 Main Street, when they observed an occupied vehicle that was running with a male occupant in the driver's seat, who appeared to be sleeping. Upon contact, officers discovered a female in the back seat who also appeared to be sleeping, as well as a dog. The occupants were just sleeping and moved along.
On 5/8/25, an officer conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle without any plates. One of the occupants of the vehicle possessed a warrant for dangerous drugs. The suspect was also in possession of a small quantity of possible methamphetamine. He was arrested and transported to the Gilpin County Jail.
On 5/8/25, an officer was dispatched to the Monarch parking garage at 488 Main Street, for a stolen TESLA charger device in the garage. A report was taken.
On 5/8/25, at approximately 9:20 p.m., a Black Hawk Police officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that changed lanes without using their turn signal and almost collided with the officer’s vehicle. The officer later released the driver with a verbal warning.
On 5/8/25, at approximately 9:10 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on the 300 block of Main Street. The driver was issued a Gilpin County Summons.
On 5/8/25, officers observed a vehicle following too closely behind a vehicle travelling southbound on Highway 119. Officers conducted a traffic stop on Highway 119 and mile marker 5.8 with that vehicle. Upon contact, the driver had all documentation in hand and handed the documentation to the officers. A verbal warning was issued.
On 5/8/25, at approximately 10:20 p.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle with expired plates since 12/2024. The officer later issued a citation to the driver and released them.
On 5/9/25, at approximately 12:32 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for running a red light. Upon contact, the driver did not have current insurance. The driver was issued a municipal summons.
On 5/9/25, officers observed a vehicle turning right onto southbound Highway 119 from Main Street, crossing a solid white line while not using a turn signal. Upon contact, officers received documentation from the driver. The driver's insurance expired in 2023 and they were unable to show an up-to-date proof of insurance card. Officers gave the driver a link to be able to show that they have proof of insurance. A summons was issued.
On 5/9/25, an officer responded to 990 Miners Mesa Road regarding a report of property theft from the campground construction site. Several trailers had been broken into, and several pieces of copper had been stolen. No suspect has been identified.
On 5/9/25, an officer responded to the Ameristar Casino in reference to a harassment call. Upon arrival, it was determined that no crime took place.
On 5/9/25, officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle with expired plates. The driver was issued a Gilpin County Summons for expired plates and no proof of insurance.
On 5/9/25, around 7:53 p.m., officers observed a black Ford F350 with an obstructed temporary tag near 5800 Highway 119. The officer initiated a traffic stop and the driver pulled into the parking lot across from Coyote Motel. Upon approach, the officer was able to see the temporary tag number and notified dispatch, who said it was associated with a warrant out of Douglas County Sheriff's Office. The driver was contacted and did not have a driver's license. The passenger provided a false name and then fled on foot into the creek area. The driver was released on a summons and the passenger has been identified. This case is still active.
On 5/9/25, officers responded to the Ameristar Casino on report of a theft. Officers conducted an investigation and there is no suspect information. Officers got information from the Ameristar Casino that the property that was taken was being investigated internally with Ameristar Casino. A report was taken.
On 5/10/25, at approximately 1:41 a.m., officers were dispatched to the Ameristar Casino at 111 Richman Street, on a report of an intoxicated party who had urinated on a vehicle that was in the valet parking area. Upon investigation, the male was checked out by the Black Hawk Fire Department and the Gilpin County Ambulance Authority. Afterwards, the male was issued a Municipal Penalty Assessment for Urination in Public and was given a courtesy ride to the Horseshoe Casino, where he had a room.
On 5/10/25, officers responded to Lady Luck Hotel to investigate a harassment claim against a dealer. The male refused to open the door and refused to let the female leave the room. After an hour, the male and female exited the room voluntarily, and the male was arrested for false imprisonment, harassment, trespassing, and obstructing the police.
On 5/10/25, officers responded to the Ameristar Casino parking garage, level nine, on the report of a vehicle being keyed. A report was taken, and a review of surveillance could not identify a suspect.
On 5/10/25, an officer was assigned a phone report of a theft of a cell phone at the Ameristar Casino the previous night. The officer contacted Ameristar surveillance to conduct a review.
On 5/10/25, officers responded to the Ameristar Casino on the report of a male jumping in vehicles, and security requested a welfare check. A male was placed on a mental health hold, and transported by officers to Lutheran Hospital.
On 5/10/25, at approximately 5:19 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle displaying expired registration. In addition, the driver was using his cellphone while operating the motor vehicle. The driver was issued a Gilpin County penalty assessment.
On 5/10/25, at approximately 7:42 p.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle with expired plates since 7/2024. The officer later released the driver with a summons.
On 5/10/25, at approximately 8:19 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on Highway 119 near mile marker 6. The driver was heading northbound with an expired license plate. Upon contact, the driver could not provide proof of insurance and was subsequently issued a Gilpin County Summons.
On 5/10/25, at approximately 8:31 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop at 5312 and Highway 119 for not having their headlights on. Officers gave the driver a verbal warning.
On 5/10/25, at approximately 9:01 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on Highway 119 at Richman Street. The driver was traveling northbound without a license plate displayed. The driver was issued a verbal warning.
On 5/10/25, officers observed a vehicle travelling southbound Highway 119 with no taillights. Officers conducted a traffic stop next to the Coyote Motel. Upon contact, the driver had all required documentation. A verbal warning was issued.
On 5/10/25, at approximately 10:18 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Highway 119 and Richman Street. The driver was traveling northbound without a license plate displayed. The driver received a verbal warning.
On 5/11/25, at approximately 9:18 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for no headlamps required. Upon investigation, the vehicle was a rental, and the driver was issued a verbal warning.
On 5/11/25, at approximately 2:19 a.m., officers observed a blue sedan run the stop sign at Bobtail Road and Miners Mesa Road. Officers initiated a traffic stop and on contact had suspicion the driver was impaired. Officers conducted an investigation, and the driver was placed into custody for suspicion of DUI.
On 5/11/25, at approximately 3:51 a.m., officers responded to the Monarch Casino at 488 Main Street, for a disturbance in room 1209. When officers arrived, they spoke with all the parties involved. After the investigation, officers issued a summons to one of the male parties for harassment.
On 5/11/25, an officer responded to the Horseshoe Casino on the report of a party involved in an earlier disturbance, being seen in the valet area. The party was contacted and said they were waiting for a bus to leave the city.
On 5/11/25, an officer responded to the Ameristar Casino on the report of a male party urinating in the parking garage. The party was contacted on two occasions and was issued a summons for disorderly conduct and driving while under the influence of alcohol.
On 5/11/25, officers responded to the Monarch Casino at 488 Main Street, and found drugs and firearms inside a hotel room. A partial investigation was conducted during that time. The room was locked and kept safe, pending a search warrant. The case will remain active for detectives to conduct further investigation and determine charges.
On 5/11/25, at approximately 5:20 p.m., officers responded to 240 Main Street, the Lodge Casino, on a report of a male who urinated outside the casino. The male party was turned away from the casino because of his ID, and he said he had to pee really badly. The male was given a warning.
On 5/11/25, at 9:05 p.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle just past the Hidden Treasure Trailhead on Highway 119 for failure to obey a traffic control signal. The driver was issued a verbal warning and a field interview report was completed.
On 5/12/25, an officer responded to the Ameristar Casino at 111 Richman Street, for a trespass to a vehicle and theft of a purse. The victim had her purse stolen from an open trunk in the parking garage. Surveillance video captured the incident and a suspect was identified. An arrest warrant was sought for the suspect.
On 5/12/25, at 12:45 a.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for failure to display headlamps on the 400 block of Main Street. The driver was given a verbal warning and a field interview report was completed.
On 5/12/25, officers were dispatched to 401 Main Street for an assist to the Colorado Division of Gaming. Officers stood by while casino staff trespassed the involved party and cleared the scene.
On 5/12/25, at 1:56 a.m., Black Hawk Police officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for no taillamps displayed, occurring at 6100 Highway 119. The driver was issued a verbal warning and a field interview report was completed.
On 5/12/25, at 4:40 a.m., officers received a Report Every Drunk Driver Immediately (REDDI) report from the Ameristar Casino. Officers initiated a traffic stop on the suspect vehicle and determined that the driver was not impaired. The driver was given a verbal warning for traffic violations and a report was completed.
On 5/12/25, at approximately 6:56 p.m., officers responded to 300 Main Street, the Bally's North Casino, on a report of credit card fraud that occurred in February of 2025. The matter is being investigated.
On 5/12/25, at 11:04 p.m., officers responded to the Monarch Casino, located at 488 Main Street, on the report of a theft. The wallet was recovered by casino staff with money missing but a small amount of drugs still inside of it. The wallet was returned after the drugs were seized and the owner was admonished. A suspect in the theft of the cash was unable to be identified. A report was completed.
On 5/13/25, at 2:36 p.m., an individual came to the Black Hawk Police Department located at 221 Church Street with an assortment of mixed-matched ammunition they found in the forest. The ammunition was collected and logged into evidence for destruction.
On 5/13/25, at approximately 4:48 p.m., police responded to 300 Main Street, Bally's North Casino, on the report of a lost ID. Surveillance was unable to determine where the ID was lost.
On 5/13/25, officers were dispatched to the area of Miners Road and Main Street on a report of a suicidal party. Officers made contact and placed the party into protective custody.
On 5/13/25, at 8:48 p.m., a Black Hawk Police officer responded to the area of Apex Valley Road and Highway 119, to assist Gilpin County Sheriff's Office on the report of a deer struck by a vehicle that had left the area. The deer was located in the city limits of Black Hawk and officers were dispatched. A report was completed on the hit-and-run.
On 5/14/25, at 6:19 a.m., an officer was patrolling Main Street when he encountered a disabled vehicle at the intersection of Main Street and Miners. While assisting the motorist, they noticed the vehicle's license plate had expired over a year ago. The motorist was issued a penalty assessment.
On 5/14/25, an officer was advised of 6 Flush Valve caps stolen from toilets at Gregory Plaza. There was no suspect information.
On 5/14/25, at 9:01 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop after observing a northbound vehicle on Highway 119 and mile marker 6 with an expired license plate. Upon further investigation, it was discovered that the driver had a revoked driver's license. The driver was issued a summons, proof of service, and advised not to drive.
On 5/14/25, at approximately 12:35 p.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle with no expiration stickers displayed on the plate. The officer later released the driver with a verbal warning.
On 5/14/25, at approximately 12:50 p.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle with no plate displayed. The officer later discovered that they were in possession of a plate and assisted them in installing it on the vehicle. The officer later released the driver with a verbal warning.
On 5/14/25, at 11:14 a.m., an individual called the police department stating that he lost three two-dollar silver bills that were 50 years old at the Ameristar located at 111 Richman Street. A report was taken, and an investigation is ongoing.

On 5/15/25, at 5:12 a.m., Black Hawk Police officers responded to mile marker 1 of the Central City Parkway to assist Gilpin County Sheriff's Office deputies, Idaho Springs Police officers, Clear Creek County Sheriff's deputies, and Colorado Division of Gaming agents in contact with parties that had fled the scene of an accident and had active felony warrants. An Assist Other Agency (AOA) report was completed.

There was a female party and a male party in the backseat of the vehicle. The male party stated he stopped to go to the bathroom and decided to hang out and show the female party where he works. Parties were advised by officers that they should leave the parking lot to go back to Denver where they both live. Both parties in the vehicle left the parking lot.
On 5/16/25, at approximately 12:05 a.m., officers were dispatched to 488 Main Street in response to a theft report. Upon arrival, officers located the suspect and recovered the stolen property. The suspect was arrested for theft and additional charges and taken to the Gilpin County Jail.

On 5/27/25, a Black Hawk officer assisted the Gilpin County Sheriff's Office with a report of a road rage incident occurring on Highway 119 near the Z Stop gas station at mile marker 1. One of the involved parties was contacted in Central City, and a deputy from the Sheriff's office assumed control of the investigation.

On 5/28/25, at 3:01 a.m., officers responded to the area of the Dakota Lot, located at 245 Main Street, on a report of a party, deemed intoxicated by casino staff, who was now driving. Officers conducted a traffic stop and determined the driver was not impaired. The driver was provided with a courtesy transport to a casino. A field interview report was completed.
On 5/28/25, at 4:39 a.m., officers responded to the Ameristar Hotel, located at 111 Richman Street, on a civil standby/removal request from the owner of a hotel room. Officers kept the peace after determining nothing criminal had occurred. A field interview report was completed.
On 5/28/25, an officer responded to the area of the Monarch parking garage at 488 Main Street, for a disturbance in progress. Upon completion of the investigation, the suspect was located, identified, and transported to the Gilpin County Jail on charges and outstanding warrants.

On 5/28/25, an officer responded to the JKQ restaurant on the report of child abuse. A summons was issued and Child Protective Services was notified.
On 5/28/25, Black Hawk Paramedics were dispatched to 111 Richman on a possible overdose in the main casino floor bathroom. Officers arrived on scene and performed life-saving measures until paramedics arrived. The male party regained consciousness and refused medical treatment. Officers collected evidence and cleared the scene.
On 5/28/25, an officer conducted a traffic stop for a vehicle that was speeding. The driver was given a warning for the speed but taken into custody on an active warrant.
On 5/29/25, officers responded to Main Street in Central City to assist Gilpin County on the report of a dog attack. A male party with a dog was contacted in front of the Grand Z. Officers stayed with the male until Gilpin County Sheriff deputies arrived and took over the call. The male was arrested on warrants.
On 5/29/25, an officer completed a phone report for harassment towards Black Hawk Courts.
On 5/29/25, at approximately 1:04 p.m., officers responded for a welfare check of a person in the 240 block of Main Street. The party's welfare was okay and they could care for themselves. No crime was committed and no enforcement action was taken.
On 5/29/25, at approximately 2 p.m., officers were dispatched to the Maryland Mountain Trail Head for a report of an injured hiker. Upon arrival, the officers and fire rescue team searched the area but were unable to locate anyone in need of help.
On 5/29/25, at approximately 6:14 hours p.m., officers were advised on a call of a report of a minor who was left in a vehicle. Upon investigation, the minor was located, as well as the father. No criminal concerns with that incident; however, further information was received from the reporting party about the minor and the father. A report was taken, and Child Protective Services was called.
On 5/30/25, at approximately 1:41 a.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for no headlamps required. The driver was issued a verbal warning.
On 5/30/25, at approximately 1:52 a.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle with no number plates attached. Upon investigation, a fictitious plate was found in the back windshield, the vehicle was unregistered, and the driver did not have insurance. The driver was issued a summons, an affidavit, and a notice of suspension.
On 5/30/25, at approximately 2:17 a.m., officers observed a driver sleeping behind the wheel of his vehicle in the Ameristar parking garage located at 111 Richman Street. Upon contacting the driver, he stated that he was tired. Standard Field Sobriety Testing was conducted, and it was determined that the driver was not under the influence; however, he was unable to provide insurance upon request. The driver allowed the officers to park his vehicle, and he then went inside the casino. He was also issued a Gilpin County Summons.
On 5/30/25, at approximately 2:54 a.m., officers were dispatched to the Ameristar Casino at 111 Richman Street, on the report of a disturbance. Upon investigation, officers tracked down a suspect and took him into custody on new domestic violence charges.
On 5/30/25, at approximately 1:40 p.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle with an expired temporary tag. The driver was later released with a verbal warning.
On 5/30/25, at 2:14 p.m., officers observed a vehicle with an expired temporary plate from 7/2024 on Highway 119 at the Main Street intersection southbound. The driver was issued a citation.
On 5/30/25, an officer responded to Bally's North Casino on the report of a medical injury that occurred on the crosswalk from Lodge Casino to Bally's North Casino on Richman Street and Main Street. A report was taken and a CIRSA was completed.
On 5/30/25, at approximately 3:01 p.m., an officer on patrol responded to the Monarch Casino, 488 Main Street, in reference to fraudulent use of a credit card. The suspects were said to have purchased approximately $1250 worth of goods from the Monarch Casino using gift cards that were purchased with a stolen credit card. This incident occurred on May 20, 2025, therefore, the subjects were gone prior to my arrival.
On 5/31/25, at approximately 10:25 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for no headlamps required. The driver was issued a verbal warning.
On 5/30/25, at approximately 11 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on the 300 block of Main Street. The driver was traveling northbound on Highway 119 and Main Street, when he stopped in the middle of the intersection. The driver was issued a verbal warning.
On 5/30/25, at approximately 11:15 p.m., an officer was dispatched to the Monarch Casino located at 488 Main Street for lost property. The investigation is currently ongoing.
On 5/30/25, at 11:11 p.m., officers responded to the Monarch Casino located at 488 Main Street for a reporting party stating someone stole a large amount of money from them. Upon further investigation, based on a review of surveillance footage, there was no evidence of a crime. A lost property report was completed.
On 5/31/25, at 1:47 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop at the 500 block of Main Street after observing a vehicle traveling northbound on Highway 119 and mile marker 5.8 with illuminating blue headlamps. Two occupants were contacted and were determined to have numerous active warrants. Both occupants were transported to the Gilpin County Jail without issue. A report was completed.
On 5/31/25, at 8:29 a.m., officers responded to an intoxicated person at the Monarch Casino located at 488 Main Street. The party was escorted to their room.
On 5/31/25, at 8:41 a.m., officers responded to the Ameristar Casino located at 111 Richman Street on the report of a theft. A report was taken.
On 5/31/25, officers responded to the Horseshoe Casino on the report of a theft from a hotel room. After an investigation, it was determined that no one other than the registered guests accessed the room, and the theft is unfounded.
On 5/31/25, at 11:32 a.m., officers responded to the Monarch Casino located at 488 Main Street on the report of a theft of a license plate. A report was taken.
On 5/31/25, at approximately 11:24 a.m., an officer responded to Highway 119 and mile marker 6.5, to assist Colorado State Patrol 1E2 with a traffic stop. Two subjects that were inside of the vehicle had outstanding warrants. They were taken into custody.
On 5/31/25, at approximately 1:39 p.m., a Black Hawk Police officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle with expired tags. The officer later released the driver with a verbal warning.
On 5/31/25, at approximately 2:44 p.m., officers observed a vehicle with no validation tabs affixed to the rear plate. Upon clearing the plate, it expired 5/24, the driver was cited.
