filled with light

and we hadn’t eaten lunch and the future was uncertain

the lesson from the jays

oh, that we were all able to soar through the day

7:17 p.m.

clouds like a just crashed wave just above the mountains

remember

remember there is something greater

on change and staying the same

I meet a woman who used to live here

a few words about everything

driving down the canyon the plains are hidden in smoke

on fire and relief

I drive through the mountains the road flanked only by pines

disappearing

One day soon it will be the pikas their habit finally eaten up

the backyard grass is blonde but the weeds are flowering

on the package of kettle corn that we got

bison insignia on a semi truck

world’s burning you can tell by the light

I’m told the Rio Grande has gone dry

on stillness and wisdom

to know the teachings of the trees

seasonal longings

a friend tells me of her seasonal depression

on water in movies

in a movie a man washes dishes and pauses when he hears

solastalgia

it’s cold tonight like it should have been

elk wail

morning walk in the woods elk wail on cold air

in the forest and the front yards there are so many downed trees

on slash and smiling

at the slash yard, a man beside me has a winch
