I write to you
dear reader
because we call
the same mountains home
I wrote to you because I wonder
if you feel the same dread
that I do when I see
snowless mountains
remember when
they were always white
remember when
we thought they’d never melt
I never thought I’d mourn glaciers
but one day
people won’t believe
there was once snow
that lasted through the summer
they may not even believe
there was snow here at all
