Dear Editor,
It’s election season and soon we will be electing our officials and representatives. As chair of the Gilpin County Democratic Party, I support our candidates in every way we can. Some candidates stand out as true leaders. In the case of State Senate District 8, Dylan Roberts is an easy endorsement for me to re-elect Senator Roberts; he truly leads with integrity.
Dylan is energetic and lives in Frisco where he is helping to raise his young family. He is a Colorado native raised in Routt County. He earned his law degree from the University of Colorado and as a student, served as a legislative analyst and criminal defense attorney for those unable to afford legal representation.
He went on to serve as a Deputy District Attorney for Eagle County.
I first met Senator Roberts in 2022 and was immediately struck by his willingness to work with any legislator, regardless of party affiliation, on any bill that would further the safety and interests of the community at large. I respect this pledge since it has become a rare commodity and more importantly because it is the way the legislative system was designed to work. The success of his pledge is visible in his legislative record which includes 72 senate bills written, passed, and signed into law with 98% bipartisan support.
His rapid rise in leading state senate committees includes serving as:
• Chair of the Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee
• Vice Chair of the Judiciary Committee
Senate District 8 is geographically large covering Clear Creek, Eagle, Garfield, Gilpin, Grand, Jackson, Moffat, Rio Blanco, Routt & Summit counties. In his first term he has held a total of 64 town hall meetings visiting every county in the district multiple times. In these, he presents legislative achievements, work in progress and answers questions from the public. And he spends a lot of time in Gilpin County meeting with everyone to understand our unique needs.
He has produced results on the following issues:
• Efforts to build affordable homes
• Capping insulin costs
• Aid to ranchers and coal industry workers
• Protecting water and public lands
• Safer roads
• Support for law enforcement, fire fighters and EMS responders
I am asking you to re-elect Dylan Roberts as State Senator in District 8.
Phil Gibbs
Chair, Gilpin County Democratic Party
