Some weeks are certainly harder than others. But last week, I was blessed with a little bit of time off to enjoy my son’s graduation from Whatcom Community College. On top of that, we got to spend a couple of evenings having dinner, playing Seattleopoly, walking around by Puget sound, and basically just being together. These are the moments I live for, literally.
In the meantime, I also worked three out of five days, caught up on billing and some work for The Vault, and even got home in time to work a bit in the garden.
My garden is another thing that makes me exceptionally happy. It’s my sanctuary early in the morning, listening to the birds chirping, watching the dogs and cats race around. And again in the evening, when I can spend a little time weeding and enjoying the smell of the flowers that have come in. Right now, it’s full of columbines.
I have also been taking the dogs for short walks, straightening up the property a bit, and enjoying the sunshine in between stretches of work.
At the paper, we are busy working to wrap up and get the Visitor’s Guide to press as well as getting this week’s paper and the July Caribou Current to press. It’s a very busy week at the office.
We’ve also had an overhaul in our Nederland office, with new floors installed and rearranging the layout to make it more user-friendly and welcoming. I’m thankful to have my home office and spend most days of the week working there.
