Keep It Local: Tin Shed Sports

Posted

NEDERLAND - Tin Shed Sports is starting a “new-old chapter,” as they stated in a recent news release. The 13-year-old bike and ski shop is returning to local hands. After almost a year of Boulder-based ownership, a group of local residents has bought the business.

“This new chapter of Tin Shed, dubbed Take 2, is all about reconnection: with the community, with our core values, and with the people who made the shop what it is,” said Josh Harrod, a partner at Tin Shed, in a press release.

The business, open seven days a week, is only 25 minutes away from downtown Boulder, but the change in ownership makes a big difference. The new owners feel that it was a mistake to leave behind local roots.

Tin Shed took a week-long hiatus, from April 28 to May 4, before reopening under the new ownership. On Saturday, May 10, Tin Shed held an all-day event celebrating the transition.

The day was filled with group bike rides, beer specials, free swag, and more. The crowded event raised money for the Nederland High School Mountain Bike Team.

The day concluded with an afterparty at The Backdoor Theater. At the theater, “Ritual,” a mountain bike film tour, took place (ritualbike.com). At each Ritual gathering, adventurous and epic mountain biking films are played.

Tin Shed Sports has an array of offerings, including ski and bike rentals and demos, equipment services, in-store merchandise, and expert advice. Their goal is to help people get outside.

This new beginning for Tin Shed is all about community connection and the business finding its way back home. Those interested can stop by the shop, located at 112 E 2nd Street, Nederland. They are reachable via phone at 303-258-3509. More information is available at www.tinshedsports.com
