What is this feeling in my stomach? Queasiness?
Now I know why they call it being homesick.
The mountains are gone.
They’ve become a part of me.
They’re supposed to be close to me.
I can’t stand being so far away.
I’m on the beach, watching the swelling tide.
I listen to the quiet lull each wave makes.
I still can’t take my thoughts away from the Colorado landscape.
The imposing geology of the mountains takes me over completely.
Even though the waves try to wash me away, I’m grounded by the mountains.
What is this feeling in my heart? There’s an emptiness that won’t go away.
It’s like a miner has carved a hole in my chest.
I need to fill it again.
I have to go back.
