GILPIN COUNTY — The community of Gilpin County will celebrate the United States’ 250th anniversary as an independent nation and Colorado’s 150th anniversary as a state through their Gilpin County Fair.
Participants will be able to attend between July 17 and 19 for events including draft team races, arena volleyball, cornhole, mining competitions, and, of course, live music.
On Friday, July 17, at 12:30 p.m., Derek Hall and The Possibilities will be performing Americana and honky-tonk originals, along with complimentary covers of artists including Charlie Daniels and Merle Haggard.
At 3:30 p.m., the jam band KC36 Orange Sunshine Band will perform, bringing modern interpretations of music spanning generations—their repertoire includes The Beatles, James Brown, Legion of Mary, and more.
On Saturday, July 18, starting at 9 a.m., Joe Wren and the Roadies will perform their modern Americana set, and at 11 a.m., the Curtis Brothers Band will bring their soulful-rock set to the fair.
At 2 p.m., bluegrass and Americana quintet Windy Pines will take the stage, and country singer-songwriter Dustin Devine will perform at 4:30 p.m., starting another set at 6 p.m.
On Sunday, July 19, Derek Hall will perform a solo set starting at 9 a.m., and at 10:15 a.m., the Peak2Peak Chorale community choir will follow.
Starting at noon, fairgoers will celebrate a musical legacy with The Jimmy Lewis Tribute Band featuring Robby Wicks, and at 2:30 p.m., the fair will conclude with a performance from Melissa Steadman and the Mountain Players.
