I wrote you this poem
for Mother’s Day,
on a page I covered
in juice from mulberries
I picked and smushed
one by one with my hands,
which are your hands,
now stained our favorite color.
I did this because
I’m in Kansas,
and you’re not,
and I miss you terribly.
Don’t worry, Mom.
I’m okay out here.
I’ll visit soon.
