COAL CREEK CANYON — The Coal Creek Canyon Improvement Association honored Mother’s Day with a pancake breakfast at their Hall on Saturday, May 9 from 7: 45 a.m. to 11 a.m. Upon entering, each mother received flowers.
The menu was pancakes, waffles, eggs, sausage, apple juice, and coffee. Shelley Peters Schaller gave chair massages. The cost was $11 for members, $13 for non-members and $6 for kids.
Bruce Goodwin served as head chef in his chef’s outfit. Other helpers in the kitchen included Steve Floyd, Tommy Drouillard, Kerry and Julie Sorlie, Tony Carmeli, Hall Manager Suzy Schemel, and Andrea Brown.
Treasurer Chuck Berginc and Bruce Tansy took payment.
All proceeds went for the scholarship fund. Schemel said they have six applicants so far.
On the previous night, May 8, the Hall sponsored a game night to play games and have fun, Schemel reported. They plan to have game night every month, on the second Friday, starting at 6:30 p.m.
The next event at the Hall will be high altitude gardening by Jefferson County Extension on Saturday, May 16, from 1 to 3 p.m.
