Posted

The Front Range of Colorado is well known for its rock climbing terrain and various historic routes.

Climbing has become a part of the outdoor recreation culture across Colorado since it began to gain popularity in the early 1900s. According to Climbing magazine, the first documented rock climb in Colorado took place at the Third Flatiron in 1906.

The Flatirons remain one of Colorado’s most popular climbing destinations, along with other nearby destinations such as Eldorado Canyon, Rocky Mountain National Park, and Boulder Canyon.

Boulder Canyon is conveniently located just outside of Nederland and is home to a variety of unique climbing routes. The canyon is littered with granite rocks that are home to climbs of every difficulty level, and places such as the Sport Park and Castle Rock. The routes are easily accessible from the road, including some accessible through Tyrolean traverse across Boulder Creek.

Guided rock climbing tours are available in Boulder Canyon through multiple companies.

Climbing in Colorado is a memorable experience whether you are climbing up one of the Flatirons in Boulder, in Rocky Mountain National Park, or in Boulder Canyon.
