Wild Bear continues to be an asset

Posted

Dear Editor,

We were so pleased to get an inside view and a tour of the Wild Bear Nature Center being built just north of town.

Having been very involved with the town and the county to make Mud Lake an open space for all of us to enjoy, I am so excited to see Wild Bear and Jill, who was involved from the beginning, achieving the dream of having a nature center where children and adults can learn more about this precious property and interact with nature and our beloved mountains.

This building is such a wonder and it will be an incredible asset for our town. The space is very usable as a teaching place, a community area, and a place for art. It was designed by E.J. Mead and Arch 11 to be totally self sufficient, generating more energy than it will consume. The materials used are incredible, new, energy efficient, and beautiful.

We left the building with so much excitement for the many ways it will be part of our lives and the lives of our community. We brought our son up playing at Mud Lake. I’m excited that families will have Mud Lake and Wild Bear in their lives.

Thanks go to the many people who have believed in Wild Bear and have donated to the programs and to the dream of the nature center. Go to gowild.wildbear.org to learn more, donate, and to make a reservation to tour.
