Dear Editor,
In your coverage of the meeting of the DDA, the headline read that emotions ran high at the DDA meeting. I did miss part of the discussion about the concert series. Perhaps emotions ran high during the part of the meeting I missed. Perhaps the headline could have read, “Emotions ran high over concert series.” If that was the case.
The first item of business was discussion of the Wayfinding signage budget and timetable, projected at $400,000. It was established during that discussion that objections that were voiced were more about the amount of money being spent, especially without there having been significant public discussion about the signs, than an emotional fray or disagreement. People can discuss without getting emotional. Opinions can be different, that’s why people in government are only able to do their best when there are people who are present.
How about, What’s the Best Way for the DDA to spend $400,000 and also get some new signs or a kiosk?
The emotional reference gives the wrong impression of the meeting I attended.
Thank you for Another Great Year with The Mountain-Ear,
Mary Jarril
