NEDERLAND — The New Explorers Learning Center (NELC), located in Nederland, celebrated the graduation of nine wonderful students last Wednesday, May 17, at the Nederland Community Center.
The graduation opened with the class's performance of two sweet songs led by NELC director Karen Campbell. The ceremony then moved on to the performance of a story about a seemingly normal toy shop, however, there is something different about the toys they have in stock. When the owners fall asleep…the toys come alive!
The toy shop owners awoke to find that two cats, two dancers, a dog, a dragon, a robot, Merida and Elsa had all been moved from their normal positions! The toy shop owners worked until all of the toys had been put back in their normal spots and returned to their everyday business.
After the skit ended and the toys had been returned to their normal state, the students lined up and got ready to throw their caps in the air at last. Students got to showcase their favorite memories from pre-school as well as what they want to be when they grow up, before being handed a scroll and some congratulatory flowers.
The ceremony concluded with a heartfelt slideshow reminding students and their families of the great memories NELC had to offer. The next step for these young explorers will be the start of kindergarten in the fall. It is exciting to see where these students will go and all they will accomplish in the coming years. There is no doubt they will go far!
Congratulations to the young class of 2039!
