Dear Editor,
Madam Lou Bunch Day 51st Anniversary Celebration and Famous Bed Race will take place Saturday, June 14, on Main Street Central City.
In the mid-1800s, Madam Lou Bunch opened a brothel for the many miners looking to find gold in what was dubbed “The Richest Square Mile on Earth.” With a tuberculosis breakout, she helped the sick and is credited with saving the city. The celebration includes live music, food trucks, performances by the infamous Backroom Cabaret and The Wild Bunch, a costume contest, the Madams’ & Miners’ Ball and activities for the children.
The parade begins at 12 noon with the bed race at 3 p.m. SHARP. Admission is free.
