Dear Editor,
The Gilpin High School girls’ basketball team defeated Heritage Christian, the Mile High League champion and ninth ranked team in the state, on March 1.
The team was rewarded with the number 15 seed in the state tournament, and will enter the regional round on Friday, March 7, against Dove Creek.
The winner on Friday will then play Saturday in the regional championship against the winner of the Sanford and Holyoke game. All games will be played at Sanford High School in Sanford, Colorado, which is about 30 minutes south of Alamosa.
All the best for success to the Lady Eagles basketball team on their run to the state championship!
