Dear Editor, 

The August 14 issue of The Mountain-Ear contained two letters to the editor regarding national politics.

One concerned the redistricting in Texas. It is hard to see this as anything other than a partisan power grab.  The other was a plea to “Democrats: Accept the election!”. Now, it is possible that the author missed the “tourists” who carried zip-ties and hand-held weapons to violently attack the Capitol Building on January 6, 2021.

Three high-level points to this letter:

·     Disdain for Dear Leader is due to issues listed below among others; not just a single-issue rant with cherry-picked examples of immigrant criminals

·       According to Pew Research Center, the epic decline of Dear Leader’s “ratings” is not from Democrats; we already despised him. The decline from 47% to 38% is coming from centrists and Republicans (95% to 85%)

·       Apparently, aligning with murderous tyrants and child abusers while grifting the system he has sworn to protect is unpopular

Some reasons he is deplorable:

·       Directing the federal government to purchase a jet airliner from Qatar which most likely will not be used until after 2028

·       Crypto scamming his followers and using it for “pay to play”

·       Extorting law firms, media, and universities

·       Firing the head of BLS because he didn’t like the results of a single monthly employment report

·       Pardoning “tourists” who violently assaulted the Capitol

·       Enabling Netanyahu’s genocide in Gaza, including children, via starvation

·       Serving as Putin’s (another child terrorist) surrogate as peace negotiations are immediately followed by heavy bombing of Ukrainian citizens

·       Extending the greatest tax benefits to those with the highest incomes while dramatically increasing the deficit

·       Imposing tariffs (paid by US importers and ordinary citizens) which negate the tax benefits and deficit impacts (prior bullet point)

·       Strategically dismantling healthcare insurance for millions

·       Deporting individuals (who have Constitutional rights) while denying them due process, “accidentally” sending them to foreign black site prisons and making every effort to avoid fixing the “error”

·       In 2024, ordering Senate Republican leaders to halt the toughest immigration bill in decades in order maintain immigration as a campaign issue

·       Now, like an eight-year-old tyrant pulling wings from flies, he sends unidentified, masked agents to round up individuals, including US citizens and children, in mass arrests; his way of fulfilling the promise to deport the most criminal “illegals”

·       Allowing our personal information to be used and shared

·       Directing the gerrymandering of Texas in a non-census year to possibly negate a House loss in 2026

·       Sending federal troops into American cities under the pretense of public safety for the purpose of creating violent backlash

·       Zero accountability with respect to the “Epstein Files”

Meanwhile, Pew Research Center published the results of polling about his economic policies, personal traits, handling of “Epstein Information”, approval rating, and management of government among others.

Aside from the 38% who believe that the above bullet points are positive outcomes, his street cred has diminished among the 62%.  The demographic that has changed the least: Democrats.

By the way, for all you “fake news” folks, Pew is a highly respected organization.
