If you turn your head slightly!

Dear Editor,

Trump declared it so:  “Khamenei, one of the most evil people in History, is dead”—declared as if his own evil deeds were comparatively not-as-bad. His voters, his followers, and his sycophants must learn to accept this as truth and justification for a war that is illegal—a war and crisis that will have an impact across the entire globe. Every country in the world is now deliberating and assessing the impact Trump has wrought.

Here at home, business executives, investors, politicians, and others are desperately working to determine what, if any, impact besets them.

The Constitutional “battle” has also begun.  Constitutionalists, historians and other academicians and intellectuals have weighed in on whether Trump’s attack on Iran is proscribed by our Constitution. Article 1, Section 8 is easy to find and its place in this document of less than 8,000 words should not be a difficult find for one of the President’s aides who reads. I am sure the President has never read our Constitution.  As he has done many times in the past, he has arrogated onto himself those Constitutional provisions provided to the Congress.

A serious discussion or debate about Trump’s illegal entanglement with Article 1, Section 8 will not matter. Most Americans understand that our Constitution and our rule of law mean nothing to this man or his sycophant followers.

This war and other extra-Constitutional acts by Trump and his administration have been committed for one reason alone: Wars will sufficiently distract many folks from the President’s exposure and investigations of domestic matters, including the Epstein affairs. Potential liabilities for some alleged crimes are not constrained by statutes of limitation. Potential liabilities under state laws may not be under purview of the immunity ruling by the Supreme Court.

“Why not start a war?” “Why not start several wars?” Starting several wars will have effects other than simply serving as distractions to his Epstein problems at home. Having engaged our military in large-scale wars will provide the de facto authorization for declaring martial law, for example; declarations that our military be used for “domestic” service is another example; voting suspensions and many other suppressions of our rights.  It should be of serious concern to every American that this President is not constrained—not even by the rule of law.

A friend, trying to assuage my dire concern about this rogue President, offered that “Democrats are in a good position to take over the House.” I reminded him that the Democrats have never done anything that “Grandma would not allow.” In the two most recent decades, the Democrats have held both Houses for at least two terms, and the only thing we’ve gotten is Obamacare. I asked my friend, “Do you really think that Schumer and Jeffries have the ability to think outside the box, in dealing with Trump?”

I reminded him of the “battle” we had about Biden when he was running. I never wanted Biden as President, mostly because of his votes for the Hyde Amendment while he was a Senator and a decision he made while he was Chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee in 1991. He had disallowed Anita Hill witnesses who would testify on her behalf about Supreme Court Nominee Thomas’ alleged sexual harassment and other alleged egregious acts against her.

I apologize for the sudden change. Straying from Trump to elected Democrats is relatively easy. Trump plays “hardball” while we (Democrats) stand firm on issue like whether the Republicans will really shut down the government. A play taken from Schumer’s book: “They will pay a heavy price if they do close the government,” spoken from the Well of the Senate, thinking like other Democrats that using the imprimatur of the Senate will change everything, including Trump.
