Dear Editor,
The aspens will be beautiful, the chili will be yummy and the parking is plentiful and free.
In fact, the Hilltop Guild's Fall Festival in Allenspark on September 19 is a free event featuring a chili lunch ($12), pie ($3), crafts, quilts, and art. The Boutique will be selling jelly, embroidered tea towels, scrubbies, and hand-knit baby clothes. The White Elephant will be open too. And the nearby Bunce School and Museum will be open for guided tours of what life used to be like in a one-room schoolhouse.
Music by the local bluegrass jam band Three Moose Morning will keep your toes tapping.
The Hilltop Guild is a productive and creative association of mostly women but also including one or two men who return the fruits of their labor to areas of need in the greater Allenspark community. The Guild funds scholarships to students in Lyons, Allenspark and Estes Park, and supports the Allenspark Area Food Bank, and other causes including the Allenspark Area Fire Department.
The family friendly Fall Festival takes place on Saturday, September 19 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the historic Kelley House, 18720 Highway 7, in Allenspark, half-way between Estes Park and Lyons.
