GOLDEN GATE CANYON - By 5:15 p.m. on Friday, October 31, Halloween night, the parking lot at the Golden Gate Canyon Grange was full of vehicles with trunks open, decorated in all manner of Halloween fare.
Aliens, mummies, tigers, and a variety of other creatures roamed the parking lot. Kids dressed in costumes, along with their parents, went from trunk to trunk to look at the decorations and fill their bags with candy.
The Golden Gate Grange hosted the annual Trunk or Treat event from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Organizers were Jessica Swanson, dressed as an alien, and Grange President Terri Costeldia.
Swanson has been organizing the event for five years. She noted that they had more trunks open this year than ever before. This year they had a D.J. and delicious treats including chili, hot dogs, and grilled cheese sandwiches.
Costeldia said they used to spend two days decorating the hall for Halloween, and another two days taking it down. Now people drive up in their decorated cars and then leave, while the kids have the same amount of fun.
On Saturday, December 6, the Grange will host their annual wreath making from 10 a.m. to noon. For more information, go to goldengategrange.com. The Grange is located at 25231 Golden Gate Canyon Road, Golden.
