Dear Readers,
On this Independence Day while out celebrating you can also plan to help a neighbor who may be experiencing food insecurity. No one knows when an unexpected emergency or expensive car repair might cut into the money that was budgeted for groceries.
A pop-up food drive is happening at Very Nice Brewery, Gilpin County, on July 4 from 2 - 5 p.m. Hot dogs (both meat and veggie) will be available for a suggested donation of $5, with proceeds going to buy food for the Gilpin Food Pantry.
Both VNB & Howling Wind will be offering $1 off your brew during the food drive if you bring a donation to either brewery between 2 - 5 p.m. on July 4.
The food pantry needs hot or cold cereal, peanut butter, spaghetti sauce, tuna fish, quick pasta or rice sides, Mac and Cheese. Personal care items are always needed, including toilet paper, toothpaste, shaving cream and shampoo.
Thank you in advance for making this an event that will benefit people experiencing food insecurity.
Roxy Goss, Food Pantry volunteer
