Dear Peak to Peak readers,
The generosity shown by our Gilpin residents was heartwarming. The pantry was gifted with non-perishable food and personal care products. A great thing about a food drive is the variety of items that we receive to fill the shelves with.
Very Nice Brewery was a terrific place for people to enjoy conversation with other folks that had come to celebrate a community helping community. It was a fun event with gift cards from Howling Wind, Toss, and JKQ as door prizes. The Red Spork Band donated their time to play us tunes while we ate tasty snacks.
Thank you thank you to every one that worked to make this event a great success in the troubled times our country is experiencing. As gas and other prices are on the rise the Gilpin Food Pantry is a place where folks can come if they are experiencing food insecurity.
I would also like to give a giant shoutout to all the dedicated volunteers that give of their time each week to make the pantry a place where Gilpin residents feel comfortable coming to shop.
As we get closer to spring, if our local gardeners have extra produce, the pantry is a great place to share it.
Take care and be safe. Gilpin County is a wonderful place to be.
