Dear Editor,
The Hilltop Guild’s annual Bazaar takes place Saturday, August 1, in Allenspark. The event is free and parking is free.
The Kelley House, home of the Guild and the location of the festival, is found at 18720 Highway 7, just 4 miles south of Allenspark. Flags mark the location just off the highway.
The day will begin at 9 a.m. with an assortment of homemade and handmade things for sale from jellies to woven rugs, from books to glassware and china, from baked goods to costume jewelry.
More than 20 booths will offer jewelry, honey, coffee, haircuts, loaves of bread, tarot readings, flavored syrups and leather goods.
The ladies of the Guild will offer a selection of baked goods and peanut brittle in the Country Kitchen while the White Elephant has a selection of household collectibles, china, glassware and kitchen items. The Boutique offers scrubbies, playing card holders, baby clothes, knitted hats, and embroidered tea towels. More than 10 quilts—modern and vintage—also will be for sale on August 1.
The popular Loom Room has hand-woven items including shoelaces, small rugs, woven bags, place mats, table runners, dog leashes, and exquisite “ruanas” or shawls.
The popular costume jewelry table also will return this year and the Book Nook is filled with paperbacks and hardbacks.
You won’t go hungry at the Bazaar as bratwurst lunches will be available as well as vegan hot dogs.
Live music will take place all day until 2 p.m. featuring Three Moose Morning and Restless Spirit playing Celtic and Old Time Appalachian music.
Earlier this year, the Guild was able to provide eight scholarships to students in Lyons and Estes Park amounting to $13,000.
As Guild members like to say, the money raised at the Bazaar stays in the community, helping local students and charities.
And the Bunce School and Museum, located only a short walk from the Kelley House, also will be open on August 1.
