CCCIA hosts first Meet and Greet for new progressive group

Community members unite in the hopes of creating positive change!

COAL CREEK -- On the evening of March 29, 2025, the Coal Creek Canyon Improvement Association (CCCIA) hosted the first Meet and Greet event for the CCC Progressive Action Hub (PAH). Organizer and leader Kris Swedenborg started the hub as a “grassroots coalition for political activism, community support, emergency assistance, and networking.”

Community members gathered at the CCCIA and mingled as individuals before talking about local passions and goals as a group. Among those who came were Phil Gibbs, chair of the Gilpin County Democratic Party, and his wife Lynn.

Phil opened the meet and greet with his own words to the community and shared copies of On Tyranny by Timothy Snyder with the group. Throughout the evening, the other attendees spoke about their experiences in the community and their current feelings about the world.

Swedenborg plans to expand the PAH with time, and she hopes that the hub will encourage collaboration among community members and create a positive space for the members to connect and share their passions, hopes, and actions for change.
