Dear Editor,
The Bunce School Museum in Allenspark is open for free Saturdays this summer, including June 27 and July 4.
This one-room schoolhouse was built in 1888 and restored by Hilltop Guild members in 1996. Bunce School holds county, state and national historic designations. The Guild continues to own and maintain the museum school and grounds, which reflects the period 1888 - 1945. The schoolhouse is located approximately four miles south of Allenspark off Highway 7 at 24 Bunce School Road.
It makes an easy family-friendly outing from Lyons or Estes Park.
It will be open, with docents on duty, June 27 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., July 4 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., July 18 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., August 1 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., August 15 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., September 5 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and September 19 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Two special days to visit will be August 1, which is Hilltop Guild's annual Bazaar, and September 19, which is the Guild's Fall Festival.
The Hilltop Guild is headquartered at the Kelley House, which is a short walk from Bunce School. Admission is free to Bunce School Museum, the Bazaar, and Fall Festival.
This year, the members of Hilltop Guild donated $13,000 in eight scholarships to high school students in Lyons and Estes Park.
