Bringing you better service soon

CENTRAL CITY — On January 29, the Gilpin  County Motor Vehicle Office announced temporary service disruptions in February 2026 related to a required statewide system upgrade by the Colorado Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV).

This upgrade is designed to enhance the experience by making the system easier to use and fully accessible on all devices

To avoid being impacted by the statewide system downtime, residents must complete all online necessary driver and vehicle transactions—such as ordering car tabs or renewing a driver's license—by visiting  mydmv.colorado.gov before the evening of Friday, February 13. Online services will not be available until the upgrade is complete.

  • All state offices including the Gilpin County Motor Vehicle Office  will be closed on Monday, February 16, for Presidents' Day.

  • The Gilpin County Motor Vehicle Office will not be scheduling appointments on Tuesday, February 17, for staff training and final system checks.

  • The Gilpin MV office will be open starting on Wednesday afternoon, February 18, with limited appointments for the remainder of the week as our team transitions to the new platform.

We appreciate our community's patience during this short pause as we prepare to deliver a superior service for years to come.
