BLACK HAWK - On September 6, the 9th annual “Buck for the Badge” Benefit Rodeo will thunder into the Gilpin County Fairgrounds.

Presented by S and S Bucking Bulls, this Benefit Rodeo will support critically injured and fallen First Responder Families. Along with the usual rodeo events—bull riding, ranch bronc riding, mutton bustin’—there will be entertainment by Rodeo Clown and Funny Man Eric Myrick and a number of demonstrations by First Responder organizations.

You’ll experience a SWAT demonstration, and another by a K-9 team. AirLife and Flight For Life, will show off their equipment, and you can ride in a fire truck,

During the Rodeo, a silent auction will take place, featuring one-of-a-kind autographed shirts, football, hats, pictures, and more donated by champion cowboys from both the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) and PRCA (Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association) organizations, as well as by members of the Denver Broncos and the Colorado Avalanche.

Tickets willl be available at the gate: $10 adults, kids 12 and under FREE. The fun starts at 11 a.m.

Buck for the Badge began nine years ago, in February of 2016, when three deputies of the Park County Sheriff’s Office were involved in a shooting. All three were injured, one with non-life-threatening injuries, one critically injured, and  one fatally wounded.

Buck for the Badge worked diligently to help raise funds for those fallen heroes’ families, and continues to do so for First Responders to this day. They are here to ensure that our First Responders and their families know that their service and sacrifice will not be forgotten.

The Gilpin County Fairgrounds is located at 230 Norton Drive, Black Hawk.
