ELDORA MOUNTAIN RESORT - April 13, 2025, marked the 24th DoJoe Uphill/Downhill race at Eldora.
On this sunny spring day, a record number of participants showed up in costume to raise awareness about avalanche safety and fundraise for the Colorado Avalanche Information Center. The event raised $7,230, an amount that helps avalanche forecasters, like Eldora ski patroller Ian Fowler, publish their daily research and updates about Colorado's snowpack.
The event is in honor of Nederland local Joe Despres, who passed away in 2001 in an avalanche. Friends and ski partners of Despres carry on his legacy by supporting this event.
Sponsors of the event include Eldora Mountain Resort, La Sportiva, HEAD, Dynafit, Zeal Optics, Skratch, Salto, Tin Shed, Nederland General Store, Kaleidoscope Kitchen, Crosscut, Neptune Mountaineering, Full Cycle, Deuter, Mammut, and Arapaho Ranch.
