Dear Nederland Community,
I hear several knowledgeable people expressing with care their strong warnings about the current PROPOSED deal with Eldora and the town. As an elder and town resident, I therefore ask myself and others: What is my/our responsibility in this issue -- given some fear the town could go into bankruptcy? (2.5 million and counting is a whole lot so far) Is this truly something that would benefit the town, be a financially practical and stable venture or is the financial risk too high?
I also hear if bond owners own the property and lease it back to the town, the town may need to make decisions that will negatively impact our environment in order to satisfy the bond holders.
What if co management could be worked out for the upcoming ski season without the town taking on MORE financial risk at this point ... and then see if it is financially feasible to actually pull off the purchase.
Respectfully,
Bonnie Sundance
