A rolling stone gathers no moss

BLACK HAWK — This week, we sent the Visitor’s Guide to press. The guide has taken a bit of extra time, with a staff member leaving in the middle of our sales process. But we’re there!

The guide features several local articles, fun stories of living in the mountains, local photos, four different sections, including Taste of the Peaks, Shop Local,  Studio Tour, and more.

The guide will hit stands in about a week, and will be delivered from Estes Park to Idaho Springs, as well as along the foothills from Lyons to Boulder to Golden. This is a well-loved guide, with our distributors refilling the racks every week. If you’d like to have some of the Visitor’s Guide, feel free to reach out and we can get a stack to you!

Beyond the Visitor’s Guide, our team is hard at work determining if we will create a Studio Tour map, to show all of the galleries and private studios participating. Or if we will just put it in the newspaper as we have done in years past. Right now we have 21 participants.

Don’t worry if we missed you—we can include you in the map or in the newspaper, with a profile. You simply submit through our website to be added to the list. The link is here: bit.ly/2026StudioTour

We are midway through summer and that means we have participated in eight markets with booths, at local events. We have over twenty to go. These market booths are our way of interacting with our communities. We set up at every event we can, from Allenspark to Central City. We offer subscription sales, give away free guides and other newspaper-related items, and we sit down and talk to you about what is important. And what you would like to see covered. And what you think we cover too much of. We are here to listen to you.

Upcoming events of note: the Gilpin County Fair this weekend. We will have a booth there. As well as the Nederland Farmers Market (Sunday). We may have a booth there. We’ll be at the Hilltop Guild Bazaar in August, the Gilpin Artisan Market, three Nederland Farmers Markets, Ned Jazz Wine, and of course we will have a booth at the Colorado Press Association Local News Solutions, as a sponsor. And that will wrap up August.

In September we will begin sales for the 2027 Body Mind Spirit Guide, which we plan to have at press late January. We want this guide on the shelves before Valentines Day next year. Watch for news of the pricing, story list, and details in late August.

In early January, we will start work on our 2027 Visitor’s Guide. We plan to have that on shelves by Memorial Day next year. This will again include Taste of the Peaks, Studio Tour, Where to be and what to see, and our Shop Local information.

As you can tell, we’re busy. Always. We are here thinking of ways to reach new readers, keep the readers we have happy with our coverage, reach new advertisers, promote your business, and most importantly, provide quality, ethical, local journalism, for you.
