NEDERLAND - On my way to town recently, I spotted three coyotes. One of them was digging through the snow. I thought it might be hunting voles so I raced back home to grab my camera. When I returned, they were still there. Luckily for me and the coyotes, what it had been pawing at and nibbling on was a deer carcass frozen to the ground. Busily feasting on the windfall, they hardly noticed my presence even when I stepped out of my car behind the door so I could shoot over the barbed wire fence.
