PEAK TO PEAK — Colorado’s mountain town music scene not only has plenty of local and out-of-state acts performing live, but also plenty of opportunities for community members to embrace music together and perform for the fun of it.
On Thursday nights from 8 to 11 p.m., The Covered Wagon in Nederland hosts karaoke nights for anyone to join. Nights can be themed (in July 2026, themes included Rodie Night, Country Costume Night, Funky Night, and NASCAR Trailer Trash Costume Night) and offer singers free drinks. Head over to 15 E. 1st Street in Nederland to let your voice shine!
If you’re looking to bring your instruments with you, venues across the Peak to Peak frequently host open jams. In particular, the Peak to Peak community High Grade Mountain Grass hosts weekly jams for performers across the area.
With jams switching between two venues every Sunday, High Grade jams encourage newcomers to learn the flow of the circle. Bring your acoustic instrument to Ned General (located at 112 E. 2nd Street in Nederland) or Howlin Wind Brewing and Blending (located at 51 A Main Street in Rollinsville) from 4 to 6 p.m. to spend a Sunday afternoon with other bluegrass pickers!
If you’re looking to share your musical voice with an audience, be sure to head to the weekly open mic at the Jamestown Mercantile. Starting at 5 p.m., sign up to perform an original or cover set of your own or to support other local performers and their sets. Be sure to head to 108 Main Street in Jamestown for a casual, supportive performing environment.
With such a flourishing musical community across the Peak to Peak area, the opportunities to support live and local music are endless. If you’re looking to enjoy a musical night out with your friends and embrace the music of the mountains in your own way, events like these are a great place to play and sing the night away.
