On Saturday, August 31, 2024, The Old Gallery hosted its annual Run Like the Wind 5K Race, 2K Walk, and Dog Jog. Canines and their human pets enjoyed a loop through downtown Allenspark. Participants ran or walked along dirt roads through pine forests, finding motivation with every breathtaking view.
The non-competitive 2K Walk Like the Breeze was an easy stroll for those wanting to enjoy the outdoors without breaking into too much sweat.
From 7 to 8:30 a.m., runners and walkers checked in and warmed up. Race packets included a commemorative race cap, bib number, pins, official timing/awards, and a door prize raffle.
By 9 a.m., the 5K race was on, and many excited, smiling faces gave the wind a run for its money, followed by the 2K Walk at 9:10 a.m. The excitement continued at 10 a.m. with an awards ceremony and door prizes.
An hour later, the post-race dog show and pet photo booth offered more opportunities to enjoy the Front Range. Pups were registered for categories including Waggiest Tail, Best Kept Coat, Best Rescue Story, Best Trick, Best Costume, Best Look-a-like (with owner), and Fastest Peanut Butter Licker. Prizes were awarded to winners of each category.
Elena’s Barking Lot provided pet photos, and all participants received well-deserved goodie bags.
With the help of local volunteers and businesses, The Old Gallery hosted another memorable event for enthusiastic participants, complete with rewards and live music!
