I don’t usually go for the heralded hostess’s recipes, but this one is a delicious doozy! You don’t even have to peel the apple—the red skin makes a great contrast to the rest of the salad. Be sure to cut your apple and celery into tiny dice—about 1/4 inch.
From 12 Tomatoes.
INGREDIENTS
• 1 (12 oz) can tuna in oil, drained
• 2-3 stalks celery, diced
• 1 red apple, diced
• 3 Tablespoons mayo
• 2 Tablespoons fresh basil leaves, chopped
• Juice of 1/2 a lemon
• Salt and pepper, to taste
PREPARATION
1. In a medium-sized bowl, add all ingredients and mix until well combined.
2. Cover and chill for 15 minutes before serving.
3. Serve over a salad, on a sandwich, or with your favorite crackers.
Note: Use the best quality tuna here for the absolutely best flavor. It really makes a difference!
