Railer Jam, Eldora: big sends, bluebird skies!

ELDORA SKI RESORT - The sun was blazing, the snow was sparkling, and the steeze was at an all-time high at Eldora Mountain Resort for the Railer Park Girls - Level 1 Rail Jam. “Steeze” is the quality of being effortlessly stylish in the parlance of the times.

Riders, spectators, and hype crews rolled in for a day packed with progression, camaraderie, and straight-up fun.

With a $2,000+ prize purse on the line, 30 freestyle skiers and snowboarders, ranging from 14 to 36 years old, threw down in a jam-style comp where style and grit mattered just as much as skill.

Community, progression, and pure stoke

This wasn’t your typical cutthroat competition; it was about “gassing up the girls,” building their confidence, and supporting their dreams.

Hosted by Level 1, the event centered on inclusivity and progression, welcoming cis and trans women, as well as non-binary riders comfortable in a space that uplifts women. Whether it was pushing limits on the rails, stomping new tricks, or just vibing with the crew, everyone had a place to shine.

The morning kicked off with a progression session, where athletes took full advantage of the Woodward-built terrain park to warm up, dial in their tricks, and get comfortable.

“The focus is on community, so it’s less about individual tricks and more about building camaraderie,” explained Level 1 Producer Emy Reznik.

As the session heated up, emcee Audrey Friess kept the energy high, breaking down trick names and hyping up every attempt. Riders threw down K-feds, boardslides, and presses: a full-on trick showcase that had the crowd erupting every few minutes.

Big tricks, big crashes, and a 7-year-old hype man

Local snowboarder Logan Hanley is gunning for the pro scene and saw this event as a prime chance to elevate her game. “I was working on front board slides and I’m trying to get this handstand on the top feature. We are going to see if we can get it to work out,” she said with a grin.

Meanwhile, an excited 7-year-old in an oversized Snarf’s shirt had the time of his life handing out $5 to $20 bills to competitors who stomped clean tricks.

Awards, crashes, and a raffle to remember

At 2 p.m., it was time to hand out awards, and the Railer Park Girls brought the heat.

Best Trick: Niamh DeDecker landed a 2 long tail press pullback to switch that was buttery smooth.

Best Crash: Emmy Lang took a few gnarly tumbles and even had a visit with ski patrol—but came back to cheer like a champ.

Best Attitude: Katie White brought the stoke and lifted up everyone around her.

Stair Stepper (for the rider who never stopped hiking for more runs): Ashley Dunn—relentless in their pursuit of progression.

Prizes included gloves, hoodies, and ski/snowboard gear, but the biggest prize of the day? The raffle for next year’s Faction skis and goggles. The snowboarder who won joked that she might have to “switch teams now.”

Music, merch, and good times

No jam session is complete without killer tunes, and DJ Peter kept the energy going with an absolute heater of a setlist. Meanwhile, Boulder Freeride, the biggest collegiate ski and snowboard club in the country, was on-site giving out stickers, shirts, and koozies to keep the crowd decked out.

As the sun started dipping toward the peaks, Reznik took the mic one last time to send off the crowd: “Huge thanks to everyone who showed up. Thank you to Eldora Mountain Resort and the Woodward Park Crew for the setup and keeping the park in top shape.”

And just like that, another Railer Park Girls Rail Jam was in the books. Until next year, athletes will keep progressing and practicing for the ultimate send.
