NEDERLAND - After fifteen years of taking over Commerce City, Phish decided it was time to move from Dick’s Sporting Goods in Denver on to Boulder for a Folsom Field throwdown. Why not?
Boulder can accommodate way more people. Although the fans will be sure to miss the potent smell of putrid dog food throughout Shakedown Street, I’m sure no one will miss the threat of the Black Plague crawling beneath their feet.
What Phish fans are most perturbed about is that they have been robbed of their fourth night of music. Well, fear no more! A fourth night of Phish run has been announced at the Caribou Room for July 6!
As we expect these fans to quite literally be running up the canyon like an antelope, there are a few things to prepare for. If you see someone on the side of the road with a sign that reads “I’m looking for a miracle” or has one finger raised in the air, keep driving.
For one, it’s doubtful they’ve showered since the beginning of tour. Secondly, they will most likely ask to stay at your home only to start a commune in your front yard. Think lots of littered balloons and uninvited acoustic guitar playing.
Most importantly, If someone offers you a treat, be wary of what could be baked inside unless you want to step into the freezer.
Lead singer and guitar player Trey Anastasio says he can’t wait to bring 50,000 fans from Folsom Field to Nederland as the Caribou Room is his favorite venue. It may be a challenge installing their famous light rig inside the venue, but they are certain they can make it happen.
As a special treat to the town of Nederland, all residents will be offered a ticket at the incredibly low price of $500 a pop. What a deal! Get your patchouli and Birks out and mark your calendar for July 6 at the Caribou Room.
