I think one of the coolest things we do at The Mountain-Ear is host a lot of contests. In spring we have a Youth Art Contest. We just announced the winners for poetry and art, and prizes are in the mail this week.

Our next contest is an Essay contest (as part of It’s Your Turn). The essays will focus on your Favorite Day in the Peak to Peak. You can submit from now to July 31, and the essays will run in the August issues.

The Mountain-Ear newspaper is happy to announce the second annual Peak to Peak Studio Tour. The tour is the perfect way to give galleries and visitors a chance to enjoy an incredible day in the mountains. It is all about art and color across the peaks.

The Peak to Peak Studio Tour takes place on September 21 and 22.

If you are interested in joining as a participating artist and want to sign up, contact Bethany at marketing@themountainear.com or call 720-960-2900.

The Mountain-Ear is looking for a cool car or truck to drive in the parade for the Gilpin County Fair on Friday, July 19. We’d love to participate this year, but let’s be real – I have a boring Subaru, and we gotta do better! Line up is at 9:30 a.m. in Central City. Anyone interested in helping us out?

Thank you for reading The Mountain-Ear. We hope you enjoy it. If not, before tossing it in the dumpster, consider one of the following ways of expressing your disgust: shred it into confetti and hold a pity parade. Toss it on that stack of newspapers you need to recycle. Or send any and all feedback (positive, negative or perplexing), to info@themountainer.com. We appreciate you!
