NEDERLAND - The sixth graders at Nederland Middle-Senior High School (NMSHS) have participated in the annual Peace Poster Contest sponsored by the Nederland Lions’ Club in collaboration with NMSHS.
The Lions Club has been working with the school for 21 years with the Peace Poster Contest.
This year’s theme is Together As One. The sixth graders talked about this theme with NMSHS art teacher Judie Sievers, and then spent several hours working on their posters.
Nederland Lions Club President Ann Marie Morgan said “[The] event was such a pleasure for the Nederland Lions Club. The students’ posters were amazing! The talent and effort put into each poster, along with the depth of thought they expressed about peace and this year’s theme of Together As One, was truly uplifting.
"Thanks to all the families there to support these young artists, and special thanks to art teacher Judie Sievers for working with the kids to make this happen.”
Judging the event this year were were local artists Janna Butler, Dave Current, and Doreen Fischetti.
First place honors went to Delilah Hundley, second place to Jackson Babin, and third place to Oren Banas.
Hundley’s poster—titled “Where the Wire Breaks”—will now advance to the district level competition.
Congratulations to all the sixth graders for their depth of thought and creativity in the 2025 Peace Poster Contest.
