NEDERLAND — As the last month of school approaches, the school calendars announce the last home games.

At Nederland Middle-Senior High School (NMSHS) this also means it is Senior Night, where the seniors who participate in spring sports are honored along with their families.

At halftime for the girls' soccer game on April 22, Coach Gonzalez recognized three seniors on the soccer team.

Perrine Breche (four-year high school player), Halle Peiffer, and Reya Levy were celebrated by the Panther community and their coaches for their dedication and commitment to the team.

Gonzalez said, "Today we are honoring great seniors. They are good people with great values. They have great families who in the last few years have shown what is wonderful about this community. Go Panthers, and be proud to be Ned all your life."

Seniors on the Nederland High School Track and Field Team were recognized by coaches Gavin Coombs and Kathy Butler.

Ben Weber and Abby Hess are dedicated athletes at NMSHS. They are team leaders and have both gone to state competitions in multiple sports multiple years. The coaches recognized their commitment and their families contribution.

Hess was celebrated for receiving the Scheels All-Star Scholarship Award. She was one of two Colorado seniors to be given the scholarship. There were over 700 nominations for the award.

Hess was selected for her outstanding student-athlete skills, as well as her contributions to the arts and leadership roles.

Eliza Brundege is also a senior on the track team, but could not attend the evening’s recognition.

With all the excitement surrounding the seniors, there was also a soccer game to be played. The Panthers were hosting the Twin Peak Timberwolves.

Nederland Assistant Soccer Coach Susan Hall said "It was a very competitive game." The game ended in a tie, 0 - 0.

As the Panthers play their last games of the season, Coach Gonzalez said, "Another soccer season and another great season. Every year we have new players and they become a part of the team...a working group.

“You can have the best players and the best team but if you do not have a team who plays together and who are united you do not have anything. Here in Ned we have both things and this is why Ned is a place who is growing every year and will grow more in the future years.

"I am happy with the season. Maybe we have less victories this year compared with other years, but that is not a problem at all because these players and this team will improve. "
