Ned Jazz Wine supports Outdoor Leadership programs

NEDERLAND - The vibes from this year’s incredibly successful Nederland Jazz and Wine Festival (NJW) are still resonating through the town, as the festival’s founder Stephanie Andelman recently presented a check from NJW for $5,000 to TEENS, Inc. for their Outdoor Leadership programs.

“These funds will directly support local youth by helping us replenish adventuring supplies, maintain our vehicles, and increase the frequency and capacity of our programs,” Nick Scheidies of TEENS, Inc. said in a statement to The Mountain-Ear.

Every year, students are invited to participate in accessible outdoor programming aimed at fostering growth in leadership, perseverance, healthy risk taking, community building, and environmental connection.

“Right now, students are participating in our after-school climbing program, and in November, we’ll head out on our Thanksgiving Outdoor Leadership Trip, which includes camping, hiking, and building the skills and confidence that come from time spent outdoors together,” Scheidies said.

This year’s Thanksgiving Trip, from Saturday, November 22 to Tuesday, November 25, 2025, will be at Sylvan Lake State Park, south of Eagle, Colorado.

“Outdoor leadership is about more than just hiking trails—it’s about helping young people discover their strengths, connect with peers, and find their voice,” said Stephen LeFaiver, Executive Director of TEENS, Inc. “We’re grateful to the Nederland Wine & Jazz Fest for making this possible through their generous support.”

As jazz lovers and wine enthusiasts celebrated out in the sun, enjoying the live music and the wide variety of vendors, they were also contributing to a great cause.

“Supporting TEENS, Inc., and the incredible impact they have on families and youth in our mountain region, is truly a privilege,” Andelman told The Mountain-Ear. “[NJW] believes that outdoor programs build crucial leadership skills, and our event proudly raises funds for teenagers to join TEENS, Inc.’s adventures—regardless of their financial situation. We look forward to helping the guides, gear closet, and participants next year as well!”
