EAGLE, COLORADO - The Nederland Mountain Bike team raced hard this past weekend at the notoriously fast Eagle course, battling both rain and heat and the popular corkscrew downhill feature.
The weather proved to be a player during the day, with rain coming in during the second half of the boys ‘sophomore race, and keeping it cold for the girls’ races. But the day ultimately warmed up and it was hot by the time the freshmen boys hit the course.
Maddie Perry raced fast in the JV girls race, taking 7th place overall. And Jonny Moss loves to keep things exciting for his fans. His chain fell off during the corkscrew feature that leads to the finish and he had to run across the line carrying his bike for the second time this year. He still managed to snag 6th place, showing a lot of grit.
Other top finishers include Sam Harkness coming in 25th in the huge field of 98 JV boys, and Codi Waldron taking 10th in sophomore girls. The freshmen boys continue to race fast with the top three Nederland finishers being Tyler Begin in 11th, Legend Teller in 15th, and Felix Miller in 21st.
Jonny Moss also won the coveted Yeti Skills Zone for all the boys who attempted the course that day, landing himself at the top of the podium.
Regionals for the Nederland Mountain Bike Team are in Nathrop on October 5.
