Local author helps open inner potential

NEDERLAND — Local author, professor, and researcher Dr. Annabelle Nelson has been an observer and student of people during her entire career.

Her latest book, “Storytelling, Wisdom, and Archetypes,” was published in March 2026. “I’ve always been fascinated by how people can open their inner potential for healing, learning, and awareness,” said Nelson.

To open this inner potential people need to find their archetype. Nelson says, “When you find your archetype it gives you structure, stability, and alignment in your life. It gives you more perspective of who you are and thus more potential. It gives us focus of our inner being.”

When we have this knowledge, we pause more in life and we “have more peace and are less emotionally reactive.”

Every culture has storytelling. Storytelling is human connection. Nelson says that finding our archetypes can come from storytelling. She says, “Stories enthrall us. And when you find your archetype it will open the mind to wisdom.”

Storytelling, wisdom, and archetypes are intertwined. They can, if understood and encouraged, be visualized and unleash inner potential in all of us.

Nelson will be at the Nederland Community Library on Sunday, July 26, from 5 - 7 p.m. talking about her book and helping participants find their archetype. There will be a light dinner included. There is a $5 registration fee and books will be available for purchase. You can go to nederland.colibraries.org to register for the event, or call the library at 303-258-1101.

The Nederland Community Library is located at 200 Highway 72 North, Nederland.
