NEDERLAND — On December 13, 2025, at the Nederland Community Center, Peak Abundance—the Nederland Food Pantry, Community Gardens, and Clothing Closet—will be holding its annual Holiday Distribution Drive from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
This is the time when Peak Abundance provides families with food assistance, and, perhaps more important this time of year, gives children under 18 years old special presents, gifts from their loving community.
From now until the day before this event, people from across the Peak to Peak can donate holiday gifts and gift cards, as well as food, directly to Peak Abundance, located at 196 West 1st Street, Nederland.
Gifts can come in many forms, of course, as the Holiday Distribution Drive aims to have something for everyone. While toys and games and other such items for children will be accepted as donations, so will clothing and other practical gifts for adults.
Need any ideas for what gifts to donate? Stop by the Nederland Community Library and visit their Giving Tree.
Its beauty and grandeur are impossible to miss, since the glowing tree sits right across from the front desk, with some gifts already dropped off underneath.
The Giving Tree is full of helpful suggestions for those heroic community donors who wish to deliver some holiday magic to area families in need.
Decorations and scratch-off tickets hang on the white branches of the festive tree. Along with those are also cards with suggestions for gifts written on them, such as rechargeable hand warmers, rock tumbler kits, remote control trucks, skin care products, drones, and robots.
The Nederland Community Library is also a drop off spot for your donations to the Holiday Distribution Drive. Just place your gift under the Giving Tree; but be sure to drop it off by Friday, December 12.
If you would like to be part of this event and are already a Peak to Peak client, fill out and print this sign-up form (https://static1.squarespace.com/static/66d9f17e59159834bb7bfe90/t/6925f21981abe361b37d3954/1764094490023/HOLIDAY+BOX+SIGN+UP+-+Google+Docs.pdf) and bring it to Jen at Peak Abundance during open hours. Or email the completed form to jen@nederlandfoodpantry.org.
If you are not an existing client but would still like to participate, please provide proof of residency along with your completed form when signing up. Sign-up forms will not be accepted after Thursday, December 11.
On the day of the drive, all those who signed up just need to come to the Nederland Community Center, located at 750 Highway 72, where they will receive their Holiday Boxes of food and essentials. There will be crafts to keep the kids entertained while parents can shop for them and get those presents gift wrapped.
There will also be a section organized specifically with gifts for adults, where Peak Abundance clients can shop for what they need, or where kids can go to find the perfect gift for their parents.
If you would like to volunteer for the Holiday Distribution Drive, email: betty@nederlandfoodpantry.org.
