Gilpin County Sheriff’s reports: February 2024

On 2/3/24, at approximately 11:06 a.m., Gilpin County deputies, Gilpin medics, and Central City fire fighters, were dispatched to the 700 block of Eureka Street on the report of a motor vehicle crash. A report was taken and a citation was issued.

On 2/4/24, at approximately 11:44 p.m., a deputy was dispatched to take a missing person's phone report. The missing person was last seen leaving a residence at the 100 block of Claudius Road. An attempt to locate was entered in the NCIC/CCIC computer system and a report was taken.

On 2/6/24, at approximately 12:46 p.m., a deputy was dispatched to a violation of a protection order. The deputy was further advised the party was at the Gilpin County Sheriff’s Office. Based on the information provided, a warrant and report was completed.

On 2/6/24, at approximately 10:11 p.m., a deputy was dispatched to assist BHPD at the Monarch Casino on level 4 of the parking garage with a party who had bite marks. Emergent cover was requested. A report was made.

On 2/7/24, at approximately 7:57 p.m., a deputy conducted a traffic stop in the 100 block of Main Street and an arrest was made.

On 2/8/24, at approximately 11:51 a.m., a Gilpin County deputy completed a certified Vin inspection on a vehicle for a county resident in unincorporated Gilpin County. A report was completed later.

On 2/8/24, at approximately 12:31 p.m., a deputy was dispatched to a welfare check on Mammoth View Drive. A report was completed.

On 2/9/24, at approximately 3:50 p.m., a deputy responded to the report of a dog issue located in the 100 block of Plutus Drive. A report was taken.

On 2/9/24, at approximately 6:25 p.m., a deputy was dispatched to Ronnie Road for a dog at large.

On 2/10/24, at approximately 3:33 a.m., a deputy was dispatched to mile marker 1 on the Central City Parkway for a motor vehicle property crash.

On 2/10/24, at approximately 6 a.m., a deputy was dispatched to the 100 block of Nevada Street on the report of a single vehicle non-injury crash. A report was taken.

On 2/11/24, at approximately 7 a.m., deputies, Gilpin County medics, and Timberline firefighters, were dispatched to the 1000 block of South Dory Lakes Drive on the report of a deceased individual. A party was determined to be deceased. A report was taken.

On 2/12/24, at approximately 4:37 p.m., a deputy responded to the report of a theft which had occurred at the Grand-Z Casino. The case is closed.

On 2/13/24, at approximately 8:47 a.m., a Gilpin County deputy

was dispatched to take a phone/ email report in reference to lost property/ alleged theft that occurred on Golden Dollar Drive. A report was later completed.

On 2/13/24, at approximately 1:43 p.m., a deputy received a report of fraud in the Gilpin County Sheriff's Office lobby. A report was taken.

On 2/14/24, at approximately 5:50 a.m., Gilpin County deputies were dispatched to the Grand Z Casino in reference to a suspicious activity that resulted in a use of force with no injuries. A report was completed.

On 2/15/24, at approximately 4:50 a.m., a deputy conducted a traffic stop that ended with a warrant arrest at the 8500 block of the Central City Parkway. A report was completed.

On 2/15/24, at approximately 1:45 p.m., a deputy was working their assigned duty as the School Resource Officer at the Gilpin County School when they found a bag with an unknown white substance in it. The officer investigated and found no suspect information. No further action has been taken.

On 2/16/24, there was a vehicle accident on Central City Parkway. There were no injuries. The driver was issued a summons for driving a vehicle when License Under Restraint.

On 2/16/24, at 9:49 p.m., a deputy responded to the intersection of Main Street and Bridge Street on the report of an unknown injury accident. Upon arrival, both drivers were contacted and determined there were no injuries. An accident report was completed. No citations were issued due to the very poor road conditions.

On 2/17/24, at approximately 4:56 p.m., a deputy responded to the report of a Safe2Tell at the Dostal Alley Casino.

On 2/17/24, at approximately 7:31 p.m., a deputy received a REDDI report. The vehicle was located. The driver struggled to follow the officer’s directions. The officer suspected the driver to be under the influence. The officer explained the Colorado Express Consent but due to the party’s inability to respond. The party was transported to the Gilpin County Detentions facility, and the officer requested paramedics to the detention facility to do a medical check.

On 2/19/24, at approximately 6:07 p.m., a deputy was dispatched to a Motor Vehicle Accident on the Central City Parkway at mile marker 13 for a car versus elk accident. Upon arrival, the vehicle was towed and a report was completed.

On 2/20/24, at approximately 5:37 p.m., a deputy was on duty and patrolling in a Gilpin County patrol vehicle on Highway 119 at mile marker 15. The deputy observed a vehicle pull onto Highway 119 directly in front of them causing them to rapidly apply their brakes. The vehicle proceeded to drive approximately 10 miles under the speed limit and crossed over the fog line by an entire vehicle width and crossed over the centerline several times. The officer stopped the vehicle, approached them and made contact with the driver. The officer advised the driver and suspected them of driving under the influence.

On 2/21/24, at approximately 1:15 a.m., a deputy was assisting an inmate in the Gilpin County Detentions Facility when they located an active warrant. The inmate was arrested on the warrant and a report was completed.

On 2/21/24, at approximately 1:15 p.m., a deputy was working their assigned shift at the Gilpin County Jail when a detention officer advised that an inmate requested to speak with a supervisor. The inmate came to the booking desk to speak with the supervisor and became verbally abusive and began to show physical signs of aggression. The inmate was instructed by the deputy to return to their pod. The inmate eventually returned. No further action was taken.

On 2/23/24, a deputy was working their assigned shift as the School Resource Officer at the Gilpin County School when they received a report of stolen money. An investigation was completed and they were unable to determine if the theft occurred at the school or the rec center. Case will be inactive. Pending any new information.

On 2/25/24, at approximately 2:33 p.m., a deputy was dispatched to The Gilpin Car Wash on the report of criminal mischief. The owner stated a truck backed into the garage door and caused damages estimated at $10,000. The investigation was unable to determine a suspect. The case is closed due to lack of suspect information.

On 2/27/24, at approximately 2:23 p.m., a deputy investigated a weapons violation. The case was closed as unfounded.

On 2/27/24, at approximately 4:22 p.m., a deputy was dispatched to a vehicle that had been abandoned with the windows broken out. The vehicle license plate was cleared and it came back clear and valid. While waiting on a tow, dispatch received a delayed response that the vehicle was stolen out of Arapahoe County. Vehicle was towed and Arapahoe County was advised of the recovery. A report was taken.  

On 2/27/24, at approximately 8:14 p.m., a deputy was dispatched to a single motor vehicle crash.

On 2/28/24, at approximately 1 a.m., a deputy was dispatched to the 1700 block of South Beaver Creek Road on a disturbance.

On 2/29/24, a deputy completed a certified VIN inspection.
