NEDERLAND — The Nederland Farmers Market is always a special time, filled to the brim with handmade items, fresh baked goods, and amazing people. It is a regular opportunity for members of the community to grow closer to each other, experience new things, and support local vendors.
Of course, there is no doubt that the market is extra special when local youth get a chance to showcase just how talented they are under the market's outdoor roof.
From painting, jewelry making, 3D printing, and making action figures, to playing in a band, this group of talented young people who present themselves at the market should never go unrecognized.
The Kids Mini Market is a unique opportunity for children aged 8 and up to sell their own artistic creations. It was a pleasant surprise to see just how creative, beautiful, and even practical all of the items sold were. These kids have shown that age is no barrier to showing your creative ability—and shine.
Playing for a whole community of people at a busy event like the Nederland Farmers Market is not easy. One of the best things about live music in Nederland is that it carries itself throughout the whole town and can be heard almost anywhere if you listen hard enough. Getting up and playing like this as a young musician takes guts.
The first to take the stage was Esmé who sang and played the guitar. Rachel Yoh visiting from Longmont said of Esmé, "She's a promising upcoming folk artist that Nederland should be watching out for. Nederland could be witnessing the emergence of the next Taylor Swift. She is young but she can only get better. Keep your eye on this one."
Luckily guts is something that local teen band Your Mom’s Favorite Band will never have too little of.
It is even more impressive to learn that this day was the first official debut of Your Mom’s Favorite Band. And what a debut it was.
The band is composed of four ecstatic, remarkable artists who sure do know how to perform and interact with a crowd. The talent that these four have will no doubt take them far. With all four singing, Alder Bradley, Asterion Nahapetian, and Kyle King on guitar or bass, and Myla Yoh on drums, the band perfectly molds together to create an exceptional punk rock style experience.
The Kids Mini Market rocked it with their personal creative talents and with the goods they produced.
