Poetry Celebration: Bring a favorite poem to share or one you wrote and grab a beer for an evening of poetic celebration. Karen will have plenty of books on hand for the poetry curious. A special guest will be providing music. 6 to 7 p.m. at Brickhouse Alpine Kitchen, 95 East 1st Street, Nederland.

Feed the Art: Each piece of art sold from Abo’s Pizza in Boulder and during the Jammin the Bou Room event will donate all proceeds directly to Nederland Food Pantry. If you are an artist and would like to donate artwork to help this cause, please reach out to info@nederlandfoodpantry.org. Starts at 3 p.m. Abo’s Pizza, 2761 Iris Avenue, Boulder.

Stop the Bleed Coalition: STOP THE BLEED® is a national campaign to encourage bystanders to become trained, equipped, and empowered to help in a bleeding emergency before professional help arrives. 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Nederland Community Library, 200 Highway 72, Nederland.

Quack for a Cause 2026 Duck Race: Adopt a racing duck for $25 and cheer it on as it makes a splash, all while supporting The Old Gallery. It’s an easy, playful way to make a real impact—so grab your lucky duck and let’s get ready to race! Need more incentive? The Grand Prize is $10,000! Sustainable Practices for Gardening: Master gardeners Molly Niven and Loretta Simms will present a program on sustainable gardening in Golden Gate Canyon. A wide range of gardening topics will be discussed. 7 p.m., Golden Gate Grange, 25201 Golden Gate Road, Golden.

Community Potluck: Everyone’s invited to the table! Bring a dish inspired by the season (or any personal favorite!) and come enjoy a delicious meal with neighbors and new friends alike. Whether you’re a master chef or a grocery-store-hero, your contribution is welcome and appreciated. Supper starts at 6 p.m., so arrive a little early to get set up. Run a 5K, Have a Great Beverage: Hey folks! On May 9, we’re serving drinks and major encouragement at the popular 5K Wined-up run/walk at the Gilpin County Community Center. Come have fun at your own pace! Bring a friend or dog and get some good exercise! Prizes for fastest runners in each age category, PLUS a prize drawing for all participants and a free goblet and wine for adults, with water and non-alcoholic beverages available. Registration is only $25, and proceeds go to support Friends of Gilpin County Community Center. We use these proceeds to help our various activity sponsorships and Heart Fund recipients throughout the year. 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Gilpin County Community Center, 250 Norton Drive, Black Hawk.

Free Health Screenings at the Health & Wellness Fair: Take a quick step toward better health! Gilpin County Public Health is offering free community health screenings during the Health & Wellness Fair. Stop by between 9:30 a.m. and noon at the Gilpin County Community Center to check important health indicators, including: cholesterol & lipids, glucose levels, blood pressure, oxygen levels, blood lead levels. This is a quick, convenient way to learn more about your health, ask questions, and connect with primary care resources. No appointment needed—screenings are first come, first served, and wait times may vary. 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., Gilpin County Community Center, 250 Norton Drive, Black Hawk.

Peak to Peak Chorale presents: Rock Around the Peaks: Please join The Peak to Peak Chorale on May 9 for their Spring Performance of Rock Around the Peaks. The show includes hits from the 50s, 60s, and 70s.  This free performance is sponsored by the Friends of the Gilpin Library. 3 to 4:30 p.m., Gilpin County Public Library, 15131 Highway 119, Black Hawk.

Silent Disco: Come celebrate the community, graduation, and the opening of the Vault! Dance the night away with local DJs: GODLAZER, Craig Beeman, and B-random. Benefiting the Peak to Peak Endurance Foundation. Tickets Free. 5 to 9 p.m. The Vault, 26 Highway 119, Nederland.

High Altitude Gardening 101: Come learn about high altitude gardening from CSU’s Jefferson County Extension. Learn about growing vegetables in our high altitude environment and ask questions! Free, with light refreshments. 1 to 3 p.m., CCCIA, 31528 Highway 72, Golden.
