Black Hawk Police Report, February 2025
On 2/1/25, at approximately 12:16 p.m., Black Hawk police officers responded to the Horseshoe Casino on a report of a possible stolen vehicle. After contacting the reporting party and reviewing surveillance footage, officers were able to confirm that the vehicle was stolen. The vehicle information was entered into the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) as stolen. A report was taken.
On 2/1/25, at approximately 8:45 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for no visible number plates. The driver was issued a penalty assessment.
On 2/1/25, at approximately 10:20 a.m., Black Hawk officers noticed a Nissan not having headlights on at Richman and Highway 119. Officers conducted a traffic stop. The driver was issued a summons for not having a driver's license.
On 2/1/25, at approximately 11:27 p.m., Black Hawk officers noticed a Toyota not having headlights on at Richman and Highway 119. Officers conducted a traffic stop. The driver was issued a summons for not providing insurance.
On 2/1/25, at approximately 11:40 p.m., an officer observed a traffic accident occur at the Monarch Casino oversize lot. The driver of the at-fault vehicle was contacted. After no damage to the victim vehicle was observed, a report for information was completed.
On 2/2/25, at approximately 1:31 p.m., officers were dispatched to Monarch Casino for a possible assault on a dealer. When officers arrived, they spoke to the victim and investigated the incident. Officers spoke with the suspect, and after interviewing them, the suspect was issued a summons for harassment.
On 2/2/25, at approximately 1:19 p.m., officers observed a vehicle bearing an expired plate from 9/24 at 5800 Highway 119. The driver was cited.
On 2/2/25, at approximately 1:47 p.m., officers stopped a vehicle for observation with no license plate at Main and Highway 119. The driver did have a plate improperly mounted and was given a warning.
On 2/2/25, at approximately 2:03 p.m., observed a vehicle with an expired license plate that read 4/24 driving at Highway 119 and Main Street. The driver was cited.
On 2/2/25, an officer responded to the Bally's North Casino on the report of a theft. There is suspect information.
On 2/2/25, an officer conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle with expired license plates. The driver was released on a summons.
On 2/2/25, the Black Hawk Police Department was on a report of an assault. Officers interviewed both parties and made an arrest.
On 2/2/25, at approximately 8:45 p.m., the officers responded to Highway 119 for a REDDI report. The vehicle's driver was contacted and showed no signs of intoxication.
On 2/2/25, The Black Hawk Police Department was dispatched on a report of a vehicle break-in. Officers arrived on scene and discovered the owner of the vehicle was the suspect in this case. Officers cleared the scene.
On 2/3/25, at approximately 5:21 p.m., an officer responded to the Monarch Casino Poker Room on a report of a counterfeit bill. The bill was seized, but it was not actually counterfeit and was prop movie money.
On 2/3/25, at approximately 3:36 p.m., officers responded to the Lodge Casino for a welfare check. The male party was intoxicated and unable to take care of himself so he was transported to the Arapahoe detox center.
On 2/3/25, at approximately 9:15 a.m., officers responded to the Ameristar Casino for a private property crash. Information was exchanged and this report is for documentation purposes only.
On 2/3/25, at approximately 3:09 p.m., officers observed a vehicle bearing an expired license plate that read 7/24 at the intersection of Highway 119 and Main Street. The driver was cited.
On 2/3/25, at approximately 4:20 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle with expired registration at Miners Street and Main Street. No insurance was provided, and no steering wheel airbag. Summons were issued.
On 2/3/25, an officer conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle without the headlights illuminated. The driver was released on a warning.
On 2/3/25, at approximately 9:42 p.m., officers initiated a traffic stop in the 500 block of Main Street. The driver was given a verbal warning for driving 30 mph in a 15 mph zone.
On 2/4/25, an officer conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle that did not have any required lights illuminated. The driver was released on a warning.
On 2/4/25, officers were dispatched to the Lodge Casino regarding a trespassed party. The trespass notice that was allegedly served to the suspect was not located, and lodge security issued a new one.
On 2/4/25, at approximately 6:04 a.m., officers assisted the Division of Gaming. The Division of Gaming gave a suspect's vehicle description and direction of travel on the radio and asked nearby agencies to be on the lookout for the vehicle. Officers located the vehicle traveling on Highway 119. Officers followed the vehicle southbound on Highway 119 and initiated emergency lights. The vehicle was pulled over at Highway 119 and Smith Hill Road located in Gilpin County.
On 2/4/25, officers initiated a traffic stop on Highway 119. Officers issued a warning and cleared the scene.
On 2/5/25, at approximately 12:06 p.m., a female party had fraudulent cards made to her credit card. She was staying at the Monarch Casino and believes someone obtained her credit card number at the casino. An investigation is taking place to identify the suspect.
On 2/5/25, Black Hawk police officers assisted the Department of Gaming in transporting a prisoner to the Gilpin County Jail without incident. Once at the jail, the prisoner was released into Gaming's custody.
On 2/5/25, an officer was dispatched to the Monarch parking garage for a possible felony road rage incident. Upon arrival and investigation, both parties were released, and a report was taken.
On 2/5/25, at approximately 7:40 p.m., Black Hawk officers were dispatched to a welfare check at the Lodge Casino. When officers arrived they were given information that the reporting party had warrants. Officers were able to arrest without incident. The violator was taken and booked into Gilpin County jail.
On 2/6/25, at approximately 1:13 p.m., officers were dispatched to the Monarch Casino for a possible assault. Officers arrived and during their investigation, determined that an assault did occur. The suspect was taken into custody and booked into the Gilpin County Jail for third-degree assault and domestic violence.
On 2/6/25, at approximately 2 p.m., a male party walked into the police department to file a police report for fraud that occurred during the months of November and December of 2024. A report was taken.
On 2/6/25, at approximately 8:02 p.m., officers were dispatched to a call for a counterfeit $100 bill at the Monarch Casino. Officers arrived and after investigation, the bill might have come out of one of the ATMs. The bill was collected and entered into evidence.
On 2/7/25, at approximately 12:44 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop at Main Street and Gregory Street. Officers wrote a penalty assessment for expired plates.
On 2/7/25, at approximately 1:49 p.m., officers were on routine patrol of the Ameristar parking garage when they observed a vehicle backed into a parking space, with a cord coming from the vehicle plugged into a nearby outlet. A report was taken.
On 2/7/25, Black Hawk police officers responded to the Monarch parking garage on a report of an intoxicated party sitting in his vehicle. The party was contacted and was able to walk to the Horseshoe Casino without incident.
On 2/7/25, at approximately 6:30 p.m., an officer initiated a traffic stop for expired temporary tags. On contact, the driver was cleared and had a valid Colorado driver’s license. The driver was given a verbal warning.
On 2/7/25, at approximately 6:51 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for careless driving and display of expired license plates occurring at 6100 Highway 119. The driver was issued a penalty assessment and a report was completed.
On 2/7/25, at approximately 7:26 p.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for no license plates displayed at 6100 Highway 119. The driver was given a verbal warning and a field interview report was completed.
On 2/7/25, at approximately 7:32 p.m., a Black Hawk police officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that did not have their tail lights on when required. The officer later released the driver with a verbal warning.
On 2/7/25, at approximately 7:42 p.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle with expired temporary plates. The officer later released the driver with a penalty assessment.
On 2/7/25, at approximately 8:49 p.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle with no clear or visible expiration sticker on their plate. Upon contact and investigations, the driver did not have a valid driver's license and had warrants. They were later arrested for the warrants and cited for the traffic infractions.
On 2/7/25, at approximately 10:21 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for display of an illegible plate and expired registration occurring at Highway 119 and Richman Street. The driver was issued a verbal warning and a field interview report was completed.
On 2/7/25, at approximately 10:52 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for no license plate displayed occurring at Highway 119 and Richman Street. The driver was arrested on an outstanding warrant and issued a summons and proof of service for traffic violations.
On 2/7/25, at approximately 11:03 p.m., officers responded to the Ameristar Casino on a report of a dine and dash. Officers later located the suspects and they paid the bill. Since the suspects paid the bill, they did not want to press charges.
On 2/8/25, at approximately 2:47 a.m., officers responded to the Monarch Casino on a report of an assault between a guest and a staff member. A suspect was identified and issued a summons. A report was completed.
On 2/8/25, officers were conducting an area check of Lady Luck parking garage and located a stolen vehicle out of Denver. The vehicle was towed and there is no suspect information.
On 2/8/25, officers responded to the Lodge Casino on the report of an intoxicated male. The casino was requesting a welfare check. The male was transported to the hospital by officers due to his level of intoxication.
On 2/8/25, at approximately 7:12 p.m., officers responded to the Horseshoe Casino on a report of an intoxicated party refusing to leave and causing a disturbance. Officers placed the suspect into protective custody and they were transported to a hospital by EMS on a detox hold. While enroute, the subject spit on a medic. The subject was arrested and jailed on the charge. A report was completed.
On 2/8/25, at approximately 8:24 a.m., officers responded to the Monarch Casino on the report of a counterfeit bill. Upon investigations, it was determined that the bill was not a counterfeit.
On 2/8/25, at approximately 9:24 p.m., officers investigated a missing person. The missing person was later located and was okay. A report was taken.
On 2/9/25, at approximately 2:38 p.m., officers responded to the Monarch Casino for a protection order violation. The suspect was contacted and arrested.
On 2/9/25, an officer responded to the Ameristar Casino for found drugs in the men's bathroom. No suspect information. Drugs were booked into evidence to be destroyed.
On 2/9/25, an officer responded to the Lodge Casino on a report of damaged property. A municipal summons was issued.
On 2/9/25, at approximately 12:11 p.m., a male party reported an assault that occurred on 1/24/25 at approximately 1 a.m., at the Monarch Casino. The report was investigated and determined to be unfounded.
On 2/9/25, an officer responded to Bally's West Casino on a report from a victim of a domestic dispute that happened between the Ameristar Casino and Zstop gas station. The victim was transported to the hospital and the suspect was later arrested.
On 2/9/25, at approximately 6:30 p.m., an officer initiated a traffic stop for a vehicle that ran a red light. The vehicle's owner stated her foot had slipped off of the clutch, and she had accidentally run the red light. The driver was given a warning and released.
On 2/9/25, Black Hawk police were dispatched to Ameristar Casino on a report of an active disturbance. Officers arrived and made contact with an intoxicated male party. Black Hawk officers detained the male and released him to medics.
On 2/9/25, at approximately 9:54 p.m., Black Hawk officers were dispatched to the Monarch Casino for a theft of a wallet. Officers were able to locate the suspect and issue him a summons for theft and trespassing.
On 2/10/25, at approximately 1:55 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop at Main Street and Richman Street for a driver not turning on the vehicle's headlights. Officers gave the driver a verbal warning.
On 2/10/25, at approximately 8:50 p.m., Black Hawk officers responded to the Horseshoe Casino on a call about a counterfeit $50 bill. The male patron stated he did not know where he got the bill. The counterfeit bill was seized and booked into evidence.
On 2/10/25, officers were dispatched to the Ameristar Casino regarding a physical altercation. A party was taken into custody on new charges related to the altercation.
On 2/10/25, at approximately 6:20 a.m., officers conducted a traffic stop for expired plates that read 6/24. Upon stopping them, it was determined the driver was suspended and did not have insurance. A summons was issued and a proof of service was completed.
On 2/11/25, an officer conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle displaying expired registration. The driver was released on a summons.
On 2/11/25, an officer took the telephone report of lost property at the Ameristar Casino. There is no information to assist in locating the property at this time.
On 2/11/25, at approximately 1:54 p.m., officers responded to the Horseshoe Casino on the report of a lost cellphone. A report was taken.
On 2/11/25, officers responded to a report of damaged property in a hotel room located at the Lodge Casino. Photographs were taken of the room and damaged hotel property. Potential suspects have been identified but were not on scene.
On 2/12/25, officers were notified of a fire in one of the Gold Mountain Village Apartments units and responded to assist. Upon arrival, officers located an apartment with a bedroom on fire. Officers were informed that a person was still in the bedroom, but attempts to reach the victim were unsuccessful. The officers assisted with the evacuation of the apartment complex and released the scene to Gilpin Sheriff's Office for further investigation.
On 2/12/25, at approximately 11:28 a.m., an officer completed a phone report of an illegal credit card transaction at the Monarch Casino.
On 2/12/25, at approximately 7:07 p.m., officers took a phone report for a theft that occurred on 2/9/25 at Ameristar Casino. The investigation is active.
On 2/12/25, at approximately 11:05 p.m., officers responded to the area of 7600 Highway 119 on a report of a traffic hazard. After investigation, officers determined that the boulder was moved as an apparent attempt at vandalism. A report was completed.
On 2/13/25, at approximately 12 a.m., an officer responded to the Monarch Casino on a report of lost property. An investigation is ongoing and a report was completed.
On 2/13/25, at approximately 1:50 a.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle matching the description of a REDDI report for a burnt out headlight and expired license plates at Gregory Street and High Street. The driver was issued a summons and a report was completed.
On 2/13/25, at approximately 12:20 p.m., officers were dispatched to the Monarch Casino on a report of a trespassed party refusing to leave. The casino did not want to pursue trespass charges and the party left the casino property.
On 2/13/25, at approximately 3:53 p.m., Black Hawk officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for going down the wrong way on a one-way street. The driver was issued a verbal warning.
On 2/13/25, at approximately 6:44 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop for a driver running a red light at the intersection of Highway 119 and Gregory Street. The male driver was contacted, cleared and released with a verbal warning.
On 2/13/25, at approximately 8:57 p.m., officers responded to the Dakota Lot on a report of an intoxicated male in his vehicle. The male was contacted and stated that he was staying in a hotel room at the Lodge Casino. When officers were clearing the scene, they observed the male driving out of the Dakota Lot. Officers attempted to catch up to the vehicle but were unable to locate him after losing sight of him at the intersection of Highway 119 and Richman Street.
On 2/13/25, at approximately 10:13 p.m., officers responded to the Monarch Casino on a report of an unwanted party. Once on scene, officers contacted a male party who was seen by security throwing money at a Blackjack card dealer. Upon further investigation it was determined that the male actually threw money at the gaming table and was not directed at the dealer. The male party was then escorted out per Monarch Casino Management without further incident.
On 2/14/25, at approximately 3:01 a.m., Black Hawk police officers responded to the Ameristar Casino on a report of a guest altercation. A male victim was contacted who explained that a male suspect threatened bodily injury on the victim along with threats to kill him. The male suspect was contacted shortly after in the Ameristar Hotel lobby. Upon further investigation the male suspect was taken into custody where he resisted arrest and assaulted an officer. The male suspect was booked into the Gilpin County Jail for assault of a peace officer, harassment, menacing, resisting arrest and violation of a protection order.
On 2/14/25, at approximately 12:12 p.m., officers responded to the Horseshoe Casino on a report of found drugs. A suspect was identified and a report was taken.
On 2/14/25, at approximately 2:02 p.m., officers responded to the Monarch Casino on a report of a property damage accident in the parking garage. A report was taken.
On 2/14/25, an officer from the Black Hawk Police Department responded to the Monarch Casino on a report of a firearm found inside a safe in a hotel room. The firearm was collected and made safe. The firearm was booked into safekeeping, and the owner of the firearm was contacted with further pickup instructions.
On 2/14/25, at approximately 6 p.m., officers responded with rescue to Ameristar Casino for a male who was unconscious but breathing. Dispatch was then given updated information, advising the male was no longer breathing. Rescue arrived on scene and began CPR. Efforts were unsuccessful to revive the subject and he was pronounced deceased. The coroner responded and will have a cause of death at a later time.
On 2/14/25, at approximately 6:29 p.m., officers responded to the Ameristar Casino on a report of a suspicious person looking into vehicles on the seventh level of the parking garage. A male party was contacted and after further investigation it was determined that the male party was assisting his friend whose vehicle needed a jump start.
On 2/15/25, at approximately 12:41 p.m., officers responded to the Lady Luck parking garage on a report of someone being injured after being struck by a vehicle. Once on scene, the suspect was no longer on scene and a male party was found with what appeared to be a broken leg. Officers administered first aid before medics could arrive and the male party was transported to a nearby hospital. Upon further investigation, a female suspect was identified by eyewitness accounts and surveillance footage. The female suspect was later located at the Ameristar Casino and taken into custody without incident. The female suspect was booked into the Gilpin County Jail for assault in the first degree, driving while ability impaired, reckless driving, and with hit and run.
On 2/15/25, at approximately 3 a.m., Black Hawk officers and Gilpin deputies responded to the Ameristar garage on a physical disturbance. On scene, a male suspect assaulted a Gilpin deputy and resisted arrest. The suspect was placed in custody and transported to the jail.
On 2/15/25, officers responded to the Monarch Casino on a report of found drugs in a restroom. No suspect could be identified and the case is inactive.
On 2/15/25, at approximately 11:55 a.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for running a stop sign. The driver was issued a verbal warning.
On 2/15/25, at approximately 7:44 p.m., officers were dispatched to a hit and run in the Dakota Lot. The suspect vehicle left the scene and was later located in the Horseshoe garage. Surveillance provided a suspect description, and two parties were contacted on the gaming floor. One suspect was given a summons and both parties were released.
On 2/15/25, at approximately 11:20 p.m., officers responded to a disturbance at Lodge Casino. On scene, one female was detained and had a warrant. She was transported to the Gilpin County Jail and several other people were summoned for disorderly conduct. This investigation is on-going as additional people left the scene prior to contact.
On 2/16/25, at approximately 10:15 a.m., officers conducted a traffic stop for expired plates reading 10/24. The driver was given a verbal warning.
On 2/16/25, at approximately 4:15 p.m., officers responded to the Lodge Casino on a report of a trespass. The party was issued a municipal summons.
On 2/16/25, an officer stopped a vehicle with an expired registration and released the driver on a summons.
On 2/16/25, at approximately 10:03 p.m., officers were dispatched to a cold phone call for possible domestic violence that occurred on 12/31/23. After the phone call officers determined that the case was pending further investigation.
On 2/17/25, officers conducted a welfare check of a party sleeping in their truck. No action was taken.
On 2/17/25, at approximately 2:54 a.m., officers were dispatched to the Ameristar Casino for an intoxicated party in the poker area. Officers were able to escort the individual off the property. At approximately 3:15 a.m., the intoxicated party was back and located by the cash cage. Officers located the suspect, and they were issued a municipal summons for trespassing and escorted off property.
On 2/17/25, officers were dispatched to Lady Luck Hotel on a report of a disturbance in progress. Officers gained control of the situation and discovered an intoxicated male party in violation of protection orders. Officers took the male suspect into custody and booked him on said charges.
On 2/17/25, at approximately 8:10 a.m., Black Hawk officers responded to Peak 2 Peak convenience store on a report of found property. Property was collected by officers.
On 2/17/25, officers were doing a routine area check at the Dakota Lot. Officers got a license plate reader notification of a car that was an attempt to locate out of Greenwood Village for a hit and run. Officers contacted the driver at Wild Card Casino. The driver told the officers that he and his son share the car together. The officer got the son's information from the driver and dispatch came back that the son is associated with the hit and run out of Greenwood Village. Officers emailed the officer at Greenwood Village notifying him that we located the vehicle and talked to the suspect’s dad but the son wasn't with him.
On 2/17/25, at approximately 2:44 p.m., officers responded to the Lady Luck Hotel on a report of an eviction. Upon entering the room officers observed a male party who was deceased.
On 2/17/25, at approximately 8:40 p.m., officers responded to the Bally's West Casino for a casino patron refusing to leave. The suspect would not leave even after officers told him to leave several times. The suspect was charged with trespassing and obstruction.
On 2/18/25, at approximately 1:22 a.m., officers received a REDDI report from the Ameristar Casino for a grey Chevy Equinox leaving the garage on Richman Street. Officers were able to pull a traffic stop and conduct roadsides. Officers determined the driver was not impaired.
On 2/18/25, at approximately 8:44 a.m., officers responded to the Ameristar Casino on a report of a theft. Suspects have been identified. The case is ongoing.
On 2/18/25, at approximately 2:40 p.m., officers responded to the Ameristar Casino on a report of an assault in progress. One male party was issued a county summons and another male party was transported to the hospital.
On 2/18/25, officers received a report of an intoxicated party driving on public roadways. Officers located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. Officers confirmed the report and made a successful arrest. The suspect was issued a summons and released to a sober party.
On 2/18/25, officers responded to 111 Richman Street on a report of lost property. After speaking with the victim, officers were unable to recover or observe lost property. With all leads investigated, this case is inactive.
On 2/19/25, at approximately 12:05 a.m., officers conducted a traffic stop for showing expired plates at Bobtail Road and Miners Mesa Road. Officers wrote a penalty assessment.
On 2/19/25, an officer conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle displaying expired registration. The driver was released on a warning.
On 2/19/25, at approximately 8:09 p.m., officers were dispatched to Monarch Casino for a possible civil dispute where the suspect wouldn't give back keys. When officers arrived they were in contact with the possible suspect. After investigation property was given back.
On 2/19/25, at approximately 10:08 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop at Gregory Street and Highway 119. The suspect vehicle displayed an expired Colorado temp tag. The officer gave the suspect a verbal warning.
On 2/19/25, an officer conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle displaying expired registration. The driver was released on a warning.
On 2/19/25, at approximately 11:33 p.m., officers responded to Bally's West on the report of a male party refusing to leave and grabbing on a Team Member's body inappropriately. After investigations, the victim stated they did not want to press charges. The male party was trespassed from all the Bally's property, permanently. They left the property without further incident.
On 2/20/25, at approximately 2:35 a.m., officers responded to the Horseshoe Casino on the report of damaged property. A suspect was later identified and Horseshoe Staff wished to handle it civilly.
On 2/20/25, at approximately 8 a.m., a female reported that she was sexually assaulted last night at a casino hotel. Based on the information she gave officers, the incident was consensual. The male party was not on scene to question and the victim did not have details. No charges filed at this time.
On 2/21/25, at approximately 3:32 a.m., Black Hawk police officers responded to the Lodge Casino on a report of a theft of property. Once on scene, officers got into contact with a female party who stated she left her purse along with a cane in a possible blue Nissan Sentra driven by a male. Upon further investigation the possible blue Nissan is seen exiting the Dakota Lot after dropping off the female and headed towards Highway 119. A report was taken.
On 2/21/25, at approximately 11:48 a.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for running a stop sign. The driver was issued a verbal warning.
On 2/21/25, at approximately 2:36 p.m., officers contacted a party for violating a protection order stipulation. The party was placed into custody and transported to the Gilpin County Jail for Violation of a Protection Order.
On 2/21/25, at approximately 9:21 p.m., Black Hawk police officers conducted a traffic stop on Highway 119 and mile marker 7 for not having their taillights on and having blue lights displayed on the undercarriage of a black Dodge Ram pickup truck. The violation was observed at the intersection of Highway 119 and Richman Street. A female driver was contacted and was confirmed to be the registered owner. A verbal warning was given.
On 2/22/25, at approximately 1:03 a.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on Highway 119 and mile marker 9 for an expired license plate. The traffic offense was observed at Highway 119 and Gregory Street. A male driver was contacted and was unable to provide proof of insurance. The vehicle was confirmed to be registered to the male's mother and the male was issued a county summons for an expired license plate and failure to provide proof of insurance in a timely manner.
On 2/22/25, at approximately 2:26 a.m., officers responded to the Monarch Casino on a report of harassment. Once on scene, officers made contact with a female party who stated that a male had been following her while on the casino floor, giving her unwanted physical gestures and facial expressions. Upon further investigation, based on surveillance footage there was no evidence of a crime that took place. A report was still taken.
On 2/22/25, at approximately 7:39 a.m., officers responded to the Ameristar Casino on a theft report. The suspect was located and was issued a summons.
On 2/22/25, at approximately 11:06 a.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for expired temporary registration. The driver was issued a verbal warning.
On 2/22/25, an officer responded to the Ameristar Casino for a trespass in progress. Upon arrival, the suspect was located, and a summons was issued.
On 2/22/25, at approximately 9:29 p.m., Black Hawk police officers responded to the Monarch parking garage on a report of damaged property. Once on scene, there was a missing Tesla charging cable from the charging station. Upon further investigation, based on surveillance footage it appears as if the charging cable had been missing for over a month. A report was taken.
On 2/22/25, at approximately 11:15 p.m., officers were dispatched to a welfare check at the Z Casino. Dispatch advised that the reporting party heard an unknown female yelling "no" and that there was a male cussing at her while in the parking lot. Upon arrival, officers attempted to make contact with an unknown male who was in a white Cadillac. The Cadillac left the parking lot and went south bound on Highway 119 when officers attempted to pull it over. The Cadillac failed to yield, and officers discontinued, losing sight of the Cadillac as it continued on Highway 119. A Be On The Lookout (BOLO) was sent out to surrounding agencies.
On 2/23/25, at approximately 2:24 a.m., officers were advised of a REDDI report for two intoxicated males leaving the Ameristar Casino in a white Ford Focus. The white Ford Focus was located going southbound on Highway 119, and a traffic stop was conducted. A male driver was contacted and agreed to roadside testing. Upon further investigation, it was determined that there wasn't enough probable cause to make an arrest; however, the male driver agreed not to drive and to go to a nearby casino to sober up more.
On 2/23/25, at approximately 5:08 p.m., Black Hawk police officers responded to the Horseshoe hotel lobby located at 401 Main Street on a report of a theft. Once on scene, officers came into contact with a male party who explained that he lost his backpack five days ago outside the Z Casino located at 101 Gregory. A report was taken.
On 2/23/25, at approximately 8:30 p.m., Black Hawk officers were advised of a stolen vehicle located at 120 Clear Creek Street. The vehicle was located, and a suspect was arrested for the charges, motor vehicle theft, criminal possession of a financial device, possession of drug paraphernalia and identity theft.
On 2/23/25, at approximately 1 p.m., an officer responded to the Monarch Casino on a report of found fentanyl pills. One party was arrested and later transported to the hospital.
On 2/23/25, at approximately 2 p.m., officers responded to level five of the Ameristar Casino parking garage on a report of a hit and run. An officer reviewed surveillance footage and confirmed the victim's vehicle was damaged before arriving at the Ameristar Casino.
On 2/23/25, at approximately 3:40 p.m., officers responded to the Horseshoe Casino for a welfare check. A male party was having a medical episode and medical was notified. Medical personnel arrived and transported the male party to the hospital. Black Hawk officers were notified later that the male party had a child in a hotel room at the Horseshoe Casino. The dad of the child gave permission to the two male parties he is in a relationship with to watch and take care of his child.
On 2/23/25, at approximately 11:34 p.m., an officer went to the Lodge Casino on a report of a party using someone's player's card to get comps. The Division of Gaming later arrested the party.
On 2/23/25, at approximately 7:06 p.m., officers were dispatched to look for a white Escalade going northbound Highway 119 towards the City of Black Hawk for aggressive driving. Officers located the vehicle by mile marker 5.8. Officers stopped the vehicle and issued a summons.
On 2/23/25, at approximately 8:45 p.m., officers were at the Z Casino parking lot on a call. After the previous call ended, officers spotted a cell phone on the ground in the Z Casino parking lot. Officers collected the cell phone and booked it into evidence.
On 2/23/25, Black Hawk Police Department responded to Bally's North Casino on a report of a trespassing party on property. The suspect was advised of the trespass and released.
On 2/24/25, at approximately 2:46 a.m., officers were dispatched to the Ameristar Casino for drugs that were found in a wallet. After officers arrived, they determined the suspect was staying in one of the hotel rooms. Officers contacted the suspect, and the suspect admitted that the drugs were theirs. The suspect was taken into custody and booked in at Gilpin County Jail for a warrant and possession.
On 2/24/25, at approximately 8:30 a.m., officers responded to a disturbance at Lady Luck Casino Hotel. The reporting party did not want to pursue charges on the suspect due to a mental health crisis and being family members.
On 2/24/25, at approximately 10:45 p.m., officers responded to the Sasquatch Casino on a report of a theft. The suspect was issued a municipal summons.
On 2/24/25, the police department was notified by the Monarch Casino HR Director of nine employees that were committing theft while using the cash register at the restaurant and coffee bar. Our officers met with the employees and issued summonses for theft. The employees were terminated by the Monarch Casino.
On 2/24/25, at approximately 2:17 p.m., officers responded to the Sasquatch Casino on a report of a fake identification card. The suspect was not on scene upon arrival and the identification card was seized.
On 2/24/25, at approximately 10:52 , officers conducted a traffic stop on Highway 119 and Miners Road for having no plate lights and displaying expired tags. The driver was given a verbal warning.
On 2/24/25, at approximately 11:07 p.m., officers were dispatched to Monarch Casino at 488 Main Street for a fake twenty dollar bill. Officers arrived and through investigation took pictures of the bill and Monarch security collected it.
On 2/25/25, Black Hawk Police observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed north on Main Street. Officers initiated a traffic stop and discovered the driver did not have necessary documents. Officers issued a summons and cleared the scene.
On 2/25/25, at approximately 3:02 a.m., officers were dispatched to a REDDI report from the Ameristar Casino. The driver was driving a red Chevy pickup going southbound on Highway 119. Officers located the vehicle and arrested the driver for suspicion of DUI.
On 2/25/25, at approximately 11:35 a.m., officers observed a vehicle traveling on Highway 119 and passing a vehicle over two solid yellow lines into the southbound lane and going back into the northbound Lane. A municipal summons was issued to the driver for careless driving. The summons is attached to this report.
On 2/25/25, at approximately 4:57 p.m., an officer observed a 2021 white Ford Ranger traveling on Highway 119 with plates that expired 1/24. The officer conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle in the valet parking garage at the Ameristar Casino. The driver was issued a county summons.
On 2/25/25, at approximately 10:12 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop at Gregory Street and Highway 119 for running a red light. Officers wrote summons for failure to present insurance.
On 2/25/25, at approximately 11:15 p.m., officers were in contact with a possible domestic violence victim at the Monarch Casino in room 3106. During the investigation, officers determined that a possible assault had occurred and strangulation. Officers were not able to locate the suspect. It appeared the suspect left the city.
On 2/26/25, an officer from the Black Hawk Police Department responded to the Monarch Casino on a report of money being stolen from a tip jar. A suspect was identified. The case will remain active for further investigation.
On 2/26/25, at approximately 7:42 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop. The party was issued a warning for speed.
On 2/26/25, an officer responded to the Lady Luck parking garage for a theft incident. The scene was investigated, and a report was taken.
On 2/26/25, at approximately 11:54 a.m., an officer arrested a party for a warrant. The party was transported and then booked into the Gilpin County Jail.
On 2/26/25, an officer contacted a party on Miners Mesa Road with an active warrant. The party was taken into custody and transported to the Gilpin County Jail.
On 2/26/25, at approximately 8:55 p.m., Black Hawk officers responded to the Monarch parking garage on report of property damage to a vehicle. Once on scene, officers located a 2013 white Toyota Camry with damage to its back passenger side bumper. Upon further investigation, a suspect was not able to be identified with surveillance footage. A report was taken.
On 2/26/25, at approximately 11:14 p.m., Black Hawk officers were dispatched to the 24/7 restaurant in the Monarch Casino on a report of four individuals not being able to pay for their meals. Officers made contact with security and the four individuals. Upon further investigations part of the meal was paid for with a stolen players card. Three out of the four individuals were able to pay the check in full and were given a 24-hour trespass notice by Monarch Security. The last individual was cited for theft of funds within the players card and was given a lifetime trespass notice by Monarch Security. A report was taken.
On 2/27/25, at approximately 1:02 a.m., officers responded to the Lady Lucky Casino on a report of an unwanted female who had been in the restroom for over an hour and was refusing to leave. Once on scene, officers made contact with the female who was already out of the restroom. Upon contact, Gilpin County Ambulance was requested to perform a medical evaluation and the female was transported to a nearby hospital.
On 2/27/25, an officer from the Black Hawk Police Department responded to the Lodge Casino on a report of found baggies containing powder inside a found wallet. The baggies were collected and tested, and the results were inconclusive. The baggies were booked into evidence for destruction.
On 2/27/25, at approximately 10:04 a.m., officers responded to the city-owned restrooms at 221 Gregory Street, Black Hawk, Colorado, regarding an unwanted transient in the male restroom. The male is known to frequent Black Hawk and left the restroom without further incident.
On 2/27/25, at approximately 11:14 a.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for displaying an expired temporary permit. The driver was issued a penalty assessment.
On 2/27/25, officers from the Black Hawk Police Department responded to the Ameristar Casino on a welfare check for a female lying on the floor of the hallway on the 25th floor. The female was contacted and was able to answer the safety questions and was coherent. She said she would get a ride back down to Denver. No crime was committed at that time.
On 2/27/25, at approximately 7:13 p.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for failure to maintain lane occurring at 6700 Highway 119. The driver was issued a verbal warning and a field interview report was completed.
On 2/27/25, at approximately 7:50 p.m., an officer responded to mile marker 2 on Highway 119 to assist Colorado State Patrol on a traffic stop. A field interview report was completed.
On 2/28/25, at approximately 1:15 p.m., officers responded to the Monarch Casino for a female who wanted to report her wallet missing. Monarch surveillance was able to confirm that the wallet was stolen when an unknown female came by and picked up the wallet. A report was taken.
On 2/28/25, at approximately 4:30 a.m., officers responded to the Ameristar Casino to check the welfare of a party on a report of a potential drugging. Officers were able to speak to the party and determine that they were okay. An investigation into the potential drugging is ongoing. A report was completed.
On 2/28/25, at approximately 9 a.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for expired registration. The driver was issued a verbal warning.
On 2/28/25, the Black Hawk Police Department conducted a traffic stop. The suspect issued a summons and cleared the scene.
On 2/28/25, at approximately 3:06 p.m., an officer responded to Bally's Casino in reference to a hit and run that occurred earlier in the day. The suspect was identified and the officer is attempting to contact them to issue a summons for hit and run and improper backing.
