Art at the Center: an evening of creativity and community

NEDERLAND - Join us for an inspiring and interactive evening at our upcoming annual demo art show and reception at the Nederland Community Center on Thursday, March 6, from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m.

You’ll have the chance to view the work of 24 talented artists, including six who are showing their art with Art at the Center for the very first time. This is a wonderful opportunity to meet the artists, learn about their creative processes, and even try your hand at creating art yourself through our live demos!

With a variety of art forms on display, from paintings and sketches to three-dimensional wall art and ceramics, there’s something for everyone.

Enjoy refreshments, mingle with fellow art lovers, and immerse yourself in the creative energy of our community. We’ll have wine, snacks, and plenty of inspiration to go around—just bring a $10 donation to help cover the cost of food and drinks.

Families are welcome, and we encourage you to make it a fun outing for the kids—our interactive demos are a perfect way for everyone to get involved and explore their artistic side.

Meg Fox and Sketchbooking Demo:
Meg Fox has been an artist for as long as she can remember—ever since she first picked up a crayon. While her day job revolves around video game art and animation, she has kept a regular sketchbook since high school, using it as a personal outlet for creativity and self-expression.

Sketchbooking allows her to stay connected to the artistic side of herself, even in a profession that can be more technical. Plus, it’s an incredibly fun, fulfilling, and low-cost hobby that you can take anywhere. You don’t need to be an expert artist to keep a sketchbook, and you’re never required to share your sketches with anyone—just the joy of creating is enough.

During the show, Fox will demonstrate the tools she relies on, share techniques for overcoming creative blocks, and offer tips and tricks to help you get the most out of your sketchbook. She’ll also have a stack of her own sketchbooks on hand, filled with years of drawings, for you to flip through and find inspiration from.

Kathy Bremers and Interactive Watercolor Demo:
Kathy Bremers began her artistic journey in 2005 when she joined a women’s painting group in Nederland. Since then, she has found joy in displaying her artwork and teaching watercolor painting throughout the Peak to Peak region.

Bremers’ goal is to inspire others to appreciate the beauty of our natural world and to foster kindness in all we do.

For her demo, Bremers will guide participants through an interactive painting experience that embraces spontaneity. Starting with a loose approach, participants will let the water and color guide their imagination, allowing the painting to evolve naturally as they go.

It’s all about play and discovery! This demo promises to be a fun and freeing experience. All materials will be provided—just bring a playful spirit and an open mind, and come ready to paint!

We look forward to welcoming you and your family on Thursday, March 6, from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Arrive early and stay late to fully immerse yourself in the art and participate in the engaging demos.
